💠Tips For Using Leftover Steak In Recipes
I look forward to leftover steak because it's so versatile that I can decide what to do with it depending on my mood and what I'm craving at the time. Here are a few quick suggestions to help you make your choice.
- Take time into consideration: Sometimes, I need something quick for a meal on the fly, like wraps, salads, or sandwiches. Cold steak works fine in some of these cases, which saves me a lot of time. If I'm in no rush, I might go for a stew or casserole that takes longer to cook.
- Consider the flavors: If you used a steak marinade or your steak is heavily seasoned, lean into that flavor with the leftover recipe you choose. For example, I might do a steak-stir fry if my leftovers are teriyaki marinated.
- Check your pantry: If I'm working with leftovers, I don't want to make an extra trip to the store if I don't have to. Check your fridge and pantry to see what you have on hand before you start cooking.
- No need to rest: If you are heating your steak before incorporating it into a dish, there's no need to rest it. Reheated steak doesn't benefit from resting a second time, so feel free to slice, dice, or do what you need to do.

Best Leftover Steak Recipes: 22+ Delicious Ways To Use Steak Leftovers!
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon coconut oil (or your preferred cooking oil)
- 1 lb beef top sirloin (cut into strips)
- 1 large red pepper (sliced)
- 1 cup carrots (sliced)
- 1 cup celery (sliced)
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 4 oz mushrooms (cleaned and sliced)
- 8 oz snow peas
- 1¼ cup stir-fry sauce
- 5 green onions (cut, optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Add only 1 of the 2 tablespoon coconut oil (or your preferred cooking oil) to a large skillet or wok and place it over medium-high heat. Sear the 1 lb beef top sirloin until no longer pink, and then remove it from the pan and set it aside.
- Carefully wipe the wok clean (if desired) and add the second tablespoon of oil and sear 1 large red pepper, 1 cup carrots, 1 cup celery, 2 cups broccoli florets, 4 oz mushrooms, and 8 oz snow peas until tender-crisp.
- Add the cooked meat back into the wok with 1¼ cup stir-fry sauce and toss until well-coated. Cook and stir for 1-2 minutes until fully heated.
- Remove from the heat and serve immediately garnished with optional 5 green onions.
Notes
- If you want your stir fry to be lighter on the sauce, start with ¾ cup of stir-fry sauce and add more as desired.Â
- Slice your steak against the grain to make the meat extra tender. You'll also want the strips to be similar in size so that they cook at the same rate.
- For a spicy variation, add 1-2 teaspoons of chili paste to the stir fry.Â
- To store: Store your leftover stir fry in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.Â
- To reheat: Reheat leftovers either in the microwave or on the stovetop with a small bit of cooking oil.Â
