If you aren't making your own seasonings at home, it's never too late to start! Homemade seasoning mixes can be tweaked to fit your tastes, plus they don't have all the preservatives that are in store-bought blends.
I swapped to DIY seasonings a while back and once I landed on this fajita seasoning recipe, I knew I would be adding it to my permanent collection! I've tried it on chicken, steak, and beef fajitas all with fabulously flavorful results!

🥘 Fajita Seasoning Ingredients
These are all pretty common herbs and spices. I usually keep them on hand, so I can always whip up a batch of this seasoning when needed!
- Paprika - 2 teaspoons of paprika (or smoked paprika for a smokey flavor).
- Cumin - 2 teaspoons of cumin.
- Chili Powder - 1 teaspoon of chili powder.
- Salt - 1 teaspoon of salt (more or less to taste).
- Onion Powder - 1 teaspoon of onion powder.
- Garlic Powder - 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- Cayenne Pepper - ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

🔪 How To Make Fajita Seasoning
Making this fajita seasoning is as easy as it gets! You will need measuring spoons, a small mixing bowl, a whisk or spoon, and an airtight container or spice jar.
One batch makes 2 tablespoons of seasoning which can season 2 pounds of meat (use 1 tablespoon per pound).
- Measure the ingredients. Measure out the ingredients (1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of paprika, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 2 teaspoons of cumin, and ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper) and put them in a small mixing bowl.
- Combine. Stir or whisk to combine.
- Use or store. Use right away to make fajitas, or place in an airtight container or spice jar and store for later.

❓ Recipe FAQs
There's a tiny little kick from the ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper, though you can leave it out if you prefer. If you like your fajitas spicy, you could increase that amount to ½ teaspoon or more. Of course, you can always add hot sauce to your fajitas, too!
