🔪 How To Make Air Fryer Zucchini Fries

Making zucchini fries is surprisingly easy, thanks to your air fryer! To get started, grab your measuring utensils, a knife and cutting board, 3 mixing bowls, some tongs, and of course, your air fryer!

3 large zucchini makes about 6 servings of 3 zucchini fries each!

Process image 2 showing coating zucchini in flour.
Process image 3 showing coating zucchini in egg.
Process image 4 showing coating zucchini in breadcrumbs.
Process image 5 showing coated zucchini in the air fryer.
    1. Slice Zucchini. Wash 3 large zucchini, then slice each one in half lengthwise. Slice each half in half lengthwise once more (quartered). Then, slice each quarter in half lengthwise to make 6 fries from each zucchini.
    2. Prep. Make a dredging station by setting out 3 bowls. In the first bowl, add ¾ cup all-purpose flour. In the second, add 2 large beaten eggs. In the third bowl, add 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs, ½ cup Parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon parsley flakes, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, and ½ tablespoon dried basil and stir to combine.
    3. Bread. First, fully coat a zucchini fry in the flour, then the eggs, then transfer it to the breading bowl and gently press down and roll to coat. Repeat with each fry.
    4. Cook. Place the breaded zucchini fries in your air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if necessary). Cook at 400°F (205°C) for 3-5 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
    5. Serve. Use tongs to transfer the hot zucchini fries from the air fryer to a plate. Serve right away with your favorite dip!

These crunchy zucchini fries taste fabulous in just about any dipping sauce! Try them in some Cajun dipping sauce or creamy Baja sauce for an extra pop of flavor! Enjoy!

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • Set the bowls for the dredging station right next to each other, touching, to cut down on mess.
    • Use the wet hand/dry hand method to coat the zucchini. With the 'wet' hand, coat the zucchini in egg, and with the 'dry hand' press it into the breadcrumbs. This keeps the coating from sticking to your hands and making a big mess!
    • If you are concerned about your fries sticking to the air fryer basket, you can lightly coat it with olive oil. Never use non-stick cooking spray in your air fryer. It can damage the non-stick coating on the inside.
    • The total cook time can vary for different air fryer models. Check your zucchini at the 3-minute mark, and continue to cook for 1-2 minutes if needed.
    • To make your zucchini fries super crispy, lightly spritz them with olive oil after you bread them.

    🥡 Storing & Reheating

Let your zucchini fries cool off, then transfer them to an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. I do not recommend freezing zucchini fries because they tend to get soggy.

    Reheating Air Fryer Zucchini Fries

Reheat your zucchini fries in your air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2-3 minutes.

    ❓ FAQ

Why Aren't My Zucchini Fries Crispy?

Your zucchini fries won't get crispy if you overcrowd your air fryer. Make sure to cook them in a single layer with some space between them for the hot air to circulate.

Can I Make Zucchini Fries Gluten-Free?

Yes! To make these crispy zucchini fries gluten-free, swap the AP flour for almond flour and the breadcrumbs for crushed pork rinds. The texture might be slightly different, but they should still turn out crunchy and delicious!

What Dipping Sauces Go Well With Air Fryer Zucchini Fries?

Air fryer zucchini fries go well with a variety of dipping sauces, such as marinara sauce, ranch dressing, garlic aioli, or tzatziki sauce. Feel free to experiment with different sauces and flavors to find your favorite combination!
