🔪 How To Make All-Purpose Seasoning

Making your own all-purpose seasoning is super simple, just combine the ingredients and it's ready to go! You will need measuring spoons, a mixing bowl, a spoon or whisk for stirring, and an airtight container or spice jar for storing.

This makes about 8 tablespoons of seasoning! You can use it to taste in all of your favorite recipes, so the serving size is up to you.

  1. Combine the ingredients. Add all of the ingredients (2 tablespoons of paprika, 1 ½ t tablespoons of garlic powder, 1 tablespoon of onion powder, 1 tablespoon of dried thyme, 1 teaspoon each of salt & pepper, ⅛ teaspoon of chili powder, and ½ tablespoon of dried oregano) to a small mixing bowl and stir to combine.
  2. Place into a container. Transfer the seasoning to an airtight container or spice jar.
  3. Use or store for later. Use right away or store in a cool, dry place for later use.

This seasoning truly is all-purpose! Try it on baked chicken thighs, boiled potatoes, salads, salmon, and more- the sky is the limit! Enjoy!

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • Swap the regular paprika for smoked paprika to add a rich smokey flavor to your seasoning!
  • 1 tablespoon of this seasoning can be used to season up to 2 pounds of meat, though you can always use more or less to taste!
  • Before use, give your all-purpose seasoning a shake to redistribute any ingredients that may have sank to the bottom of the jar.

❓ Recipe FAQs

Are All-Purpose Seasoning and Allspice The Same Thing?

Don't let the names fool you, these are two very different things. All-purpose seasoning is a seasoning blend made with herbs and spices that can be used on just about anything. Allspice is a single spice that tastes like a combination of cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon which is used to add a rich spiced flavor to baked goods, glazes, and occasionally meats like sausage.

Is All-Purpose Seasoning The Same Thing As Seasoning Salt (Seasoned Salt)?

All-purpose seasoning and seasoned salt are very similar. Typically, seasoning salt has more salt in it. Both are extremely versatile and can be used on a wide variety of foods. In fact, you can substitute one for the other, and adjust the salt in the recipe as needed.

What Can I Use All-Purpose Seasoning On?

This seasoning blend is a great one to have on hand because it's so versatile! It can elevate soups and stews, enhance marinades, season salads, flavor french fries, and so much more. It tastes great on chicken, seafood, pork, beef, and vegetables!
