🥘 Shrimp Fajita Ingredients
All you will need is a handful of common fajitas ingredients and you're all set! If you're using frozen shrimp for this recipe, make sure to completely thaw them in the fridge overnight before you start.
- Olive Oil - 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO).
- Red Bell Pepper - ½ medium red bell pepper (julienned or sliced).
- Green Bell Pepper - ½ medium green bell pepper (julienned or sliced).
- White Onion - ½ large white onion (sliced).
- Shrimp - 1 pound of shrimp (fresh or frozen shrimp, thawed).
- Fajita Seasoning - 1 tablespoon of fajita seasoning (see my recipe or use your favorite brand).
- Red Pepper Flakes (optional) - ½ teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes for some extra heat if desired.
- Lime (optional) - 1 large lime (for juice) and maybe another to serve your fajitas with lime wedges if desired.
- Cilantro (optional) - 1 tablespoon of cilantro (chopped for garnish).
- Green Onions (optional) - 4 green onions (chopped for garnish).

🔪 How To Make Shrimp Fajitas
The best thing about this recipe (other than the taste) is that is beginner friendly and only takes 10 minutes of light prep work. All you have to do is saute the bell pepper and onions, then cook the shrimp! To get started, you will need a cast iron skillet, a knife set, and a wooden spoon.
1 pound of shrimp fajitas with make about 4 servings! You can easily scale up or down if needed.
- Heat oil. Heat 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. *You can also use any heavy-bottomed pan if you'd like.
- Add veggies. Add the ½ medium red bell pepper, ½ medium green bell pepper, and ½ large white onion to the heated oil and cook until they are crisp-tender. Take them out of the pan and put them aside for later.
- Cook shrimp. Add the 1 pound of shrimp into the skillet and season with 1 tablespoon of fajita seasoning and ½ teaspoon of optional red pepper flakes, if desired. Use a wooden spoon to stir and coat the shrimp, then cook until the shrimp is no longer transparent, curled, and pink.
- Heat. Place the bell peppers and onion back into the pan then stir to combine with the shrimp. Cook until the vegetables are heated through again, then squeeze the lime over the top, if using.
- Serve. Take the shrimp and veggies off from the heat and top them with the optional cilantro and sliced green onions if desired, then serve immediately.
