Also known as 'pork collar', coppa pork steaks are the crème de la crème of pork steaks, and boy are they delicious. The coppa is a group of muscles that run through the pig's shoulder and the boneless steaks cut from this area have fabulous marbling and equally fabulous flavor!

The only thing that could make incredibly tender coppa cut pork any better is if it were easy to prepare...and with your air fryer, it is. A brief time spent in the air fryer will have your pork steaks slicing like butter.

🥘 Ingredients

It doesn't take much for these pork steaks to turn out delicious. You don't even need to use oil.

  • Pork Coppa Steaks - 1 pound of thick-cut, boneless pork steaks (the coppa cut is recommended, but not required).
  • Pork Seasoning - 1 tablespoon of my pork seasoning, or your favorite brand.

Be sure to see the free printable recipe card below for ingredients, exact amounts & instructions with tips!

🔪 How To Make Air Fried Pork Steaks

Preheating your air fryer helps get a nice sear on the outside of your pork. Get your air fryer ready, grab some tongs for flipping, and that's it.

Process photo 1 showing pork steaks seasoned in the air fryer basket.
Process photo 2 showing pork steaks cooked in the air fryer basket.
  1. Preheat and season. Before you get started, remove your pork steaks from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking so they can come to room temperature (it helps them to cook evenly). Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (205°C) for 5 minutes while you season 1 pound of pork coppa steaks on all sides with 1 tablespoon of pork seasoning.
  2. Flip. After your air fryer has preheated, add your seasoned pork steaks to the basket (making sure they do not overlap). Cook for 6 minutes on the first side, then open the basket and flip them over.
  3. Finish air frying. After flipping the pork steaks, continue cooking them for 6 more minutes (*see note) or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  4. Rest. Then, remove them from the air fryer and transfer them to a plate or cutting board. Cover the air fried pork steaks loosely with a sheet of aluminum foil and allow them to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • No need to thaw frozen pork. Cook your pork steaks from frozen by turning the heat up to 400°F (205°C) and cooking for 8 minutes. Then, flip the steaks and continue to cook until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Cooking times may vary slightly. It all depends on the model of your air fryer and thickness of the pork. I used thick-cut boneless pork coppa steaks for this recipe.
  • Storing: Leftover coppa pork steaks can be kept in the fridge in a shallow, airtight container for 3-4 days. They can be frozen in the same way, but for best quality should be enjoyed within the first 2-3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge.
  • Reheating: When ready to reheat your pork steaks, preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and air fry just until heated through.

Instructions

  • 30 minutes before cooking, remove your pork steaks from the fridge so that they can warm to room temperature (it helps them to cook evenly). Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (205°C) for 5 minutes while you season your pork steaks generously with pork seasoning.
  • Once your air fryer has preheated, place the seasoned pork steaks in the basket making sure that they don't overlap. Cook for 6 minutes before opening the basket and flipping the steaks.
  • After flipping, cook the steaks for an additional 6 minutes (*see note) or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Remove the pork steaks from your air fryer and place them onto a plate or cutting board covered loosely with a square of aluminum foil. Set the air fried pork steaks aside to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You may cook your pork steaks from frozen if needed. In that case, cook the steaks at 400°F (205°C) for about 8 minutes. Then flip them over and continue to cook until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Depending on the model of your air fryer and the thickness of the pork, the cooking time may vary slightly. I used thick-cut boneless pork coppa steaks for this recipe.
