Jump to Recipe
Best BBQ slow cooker country style boneless pork ribs recipe pin with text footer.

Slow cooker country-style pork ribs can be combined with BBQ sauce in the crockpot before work and are ready by dinner time. After cooking low and slow, the boneless ribs become fall-apart-tender and the BBQ sauce begins to thicken and caramelize into sweet, smoky goodness. Slow cooker country-style pork ribs are the perfect fuss-free dinner recipe for busy weekdays.

For an easy family dinner, serve pork ribs over buttered noodles or basmati rice.

BBQ Crockpot Country Style Boneless Pork Ribs

Slow cooker and crockpot recipes are a godsend on days when you have a lot on your plate. These country-style pork ribs are one of my go-to slow cooker recipes for busy days because they require almost no prep and just a handful of simple ingredients!

Your slow cooker does all the hard work here, so you can go about your day and come back to a hearty home-cooked meal without barely lifting a finger! Choose your favorite quick and easy side dishes and you have a fabulous family dinner on the fly!

🥘 Ingredients

  • Boneless Country Style Pork Ribs - 2-3 pounds.
  • Salt & Pepper - ½ teaspoon each, salt & pepper
  • BBQ Sauce - 1 cup BBQ sauce (try my honey bbq sauce).
  • Liquid Smoke (optional) - 2 teaspoons Liquid Smoke that can be found in the condiments aisle at most grocery stores.
  • Light Brown Sugar (optional) - ¼ cup.

Be sure to see the free printable recipe card below for ingredients, exact amounts & instructions with tips!

🔪 How To Make BBQ Slow Cooker Country Style Pork Ribs

This recipe is hard to mess up! All you need is your crockpot, measuring cups or spoons for the ingredients, and a wooden spoon or something to stir with.

Step 1: Prep. Place your country style pork ribs on the bottom of your slow cooker.

Step 2: Season. Season the ribs with ½ a teaspoon each of salt and pepper, then top with 1 cup of BBQ sauce, 2 teaspoons of Liquid Smoke, and the optional ¼ cup of brown sugar, if using. Stir to Combine.

Step 3: Cook. Place the lid on your slow cooker on and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-8 hours.

Step 4: Serve or broil. When ready to serve, serve with extra BBQ sauce or top with a sprinkle more of brown sugar and broil for nicely caramelized ribs.

Any of your favorite BBQ side dishes will pair wonderfully as well! See my post on what to serve with pork ribs for other side dish ideas. Enjoy!

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • Cook time varies by the size of the ribs and the model of the slow cooker used. Your ribs are done when they are practically fall-apart tender when poked with a knife or fork.
  • Quality of Ingredients: Use high-quality boneless country-style pork ribs for the best results. The quality of meat can significantly impact the tenderness and flavor of the dish.
  • Seasoning: Don't skip the seasoning step. The combination of salt, pepper, and optional brown sugar enhances the flavor of the ribs and complements the BBQ sauce.
  • Liquid Smoke: Adding Liquid Smoke is perfect for that authentic smoky BBQ flavor. If you don't have Liquid Smoke, substitute it with a smoky BBQ sauce.
  • Layering in Slow Cooker: Place the ribs at the bottom of the slow cooker and then add the other ingredients on top. This ensures even cooking and flavor distribution.

🥡 Storing & Reheating

Allow the cooked ribs to cool to room temperature. Store them in a shallow airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For freezing, wrap the cooled ribs tightly in foil and place them in a heavy-duty freezer bag. They can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Reheating

Thaw frozen ribs in the refrigerator overnight. To reheat, place the ribs in a baking dish with a splash of broth or water and cover with foil. Bake at 250°F (120°C) until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). This method helps to keep the ribs moist.

❓ Recipe FAQs

Can I use bone-in pork ribs for this recipe?

Yes, you can use bone-in ribs, but remember that they may require a slightly longer cooking time to become tender. The bones can also add more flavor to the dish.

What can I use if I don’t have Liquid Smoke?

If you don't have Liquid Smoke, you can use a smoky-flavored BBQ sauce to mimic the smoky taste. Alternatively, a dash of smoked paprika can add a subtle smoky flavor.

Is it possible to overcook the ribs in the slow cooker?

While slow cookers are great for making meat tender, it is possible to overcook the ribs, especially on high heat. Overcooked ribs can become mushy. It’s best to check the ribs towards the end of the cooking time to ensure they are tender but still hold their shape.
