I have so many other tasty Halloween appetizers to try, as well as some sweet Halloween cookie recipes! For a little extra fun, take a look at these boozy Halloween cocktails!

🥘 Halloween Crescent Roll Witches Hats Ingredients, Notes, & Substitutions

You only need a handful of items to pull off these fun and spooky hats! You can even let your kids help with the grocery shopping, too!

Tall image of Halloween crescent roll witch hat ingredients.
    • Crescent Rolls - One 8-ounce package of crescent rolls.
    • Butter - 2 tablespoons of butter, melted.
    • Garlic Powder - ½ teaspoon of garlic powder.
    • Italian Seasoning - ½ teaspoon of Italian seasoning (try my homemade recipe here).
    • Parmesan - 2 tablespoons of finely grated Parmesan cheese.
    • Cheddar - 4 ounces of cheddar cheese, cut into strips. You can use whatever kind of cheese you like, I just used white cheddar because I liked the color of the band on the hat the best.
    • Olives - 8 black olive slices to act as the buckle of the hat.

🔪 How To Make Halloween Crescent Roll Witches Hats

These super easy, kid-friendly witch hats can literally be made by anyone (they are so simple!) All you are going to need is a baking sheet, a small bowl, your measuring spoons, a pastry brush, and a knife.

This recipe will make 8 witch hats. If you want to make more, just grab an extra package of crescent rolls!

Step 1: Preheat. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C/Gas Mark 5) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Roll. Unroll 8 ounces (227 grams) of crescent rolls and separate each triangle. Roll the wide end of the triangle a couple of times to make the brim of the hat and then slightly round the tips of the hat. Repeat with all of the crescent rolls.

Step 3: Brush. In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons (28 grams) of melted butter, ½ teaspoon (1.5 grams) of garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon (1 gram) of Italian seasoning until well combined. Then, brush the mixture on each of the crescent rolls and sprinkle 2 tablespoons (10 grams) of Parmesan Cheese on top.

Step 4: Bake. Bake in the oven at 375°F (190°C/Gas Mark 5) for 8-10 minutes or until the hats are golden brown in color.

Step 5: Cool. Remove the crescent rolls from the oven and allow them to cool completely before decorating them.

Step 6: Decorate. Place thin slices of cheddar cheese onto each hat, followed by one of your 8 black olive slices for the buckle. Serve immediately.

🎃 What To Serve With Halloween Crescent Roll Witches Hats

As a party appetizer, serve your crescent roll witch hats with some marinara sauce or arrabbiata sauce for dipping! Everyone will love it!

If you are using these hats to add some fun flair to your typical family dinner, pair them with the same kinds of recipes that you would garlic bread! Try them alongside some million-dollar spaghetti casserole or spaghetti bolognese. Enjoy!

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • Since these witch hats are not rolled all the way, they bake faster than typical crescent rolls. Make sure to keep an eye on them so that they don't burn.
    • 8 ounces of crescent roll dough is equivalent to one package (which yields 8 crescent rolls). Make sure you buy the standard crescent roll dough and not the sheets that aren't perforated.
    • If you want a little extra zest, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to your garlic butter mixture.

    🥡 Storing

These crescent rolls are best served immediately but can be stored in a sealed container at room temperature for 2-3 days. I don't recommend refrigerating them, as it could cause the crescent rolls to become soggy.

They are so incredibly quick to make that they are perfect for any last-minute appetizers you need to throw together!

    ❓ FAQ

Can I Add Anything Else To My Crescent Roll Witch Hats?

Sure! If you want to go a step past garlic bread, you could add some sliced pepperoni or salami! Simply roll it up in the portion of the crescent roll that makes up the brim of the hat, then finish the recipe as normal.

Can I Make Mini Crescent Roll Witch Hats?

Absolutely! Just use a pizza cutter to evenly slice your crescent roll dough into smaller triangles. Then, you can roll them, bake them, and assemble them like normal! Just make sure to keep an eye on them as they may bake more quickly.

Can I Make Sweet Crescent Roll Witch Hats?

Yes! Instead of brushing your hats with garlic butter, you could brush them with melted butter and then sprinkle some cinnamon sugar over top. You can even add some hazelnut spread into the brim of the hat, too! For decorating the band and buckle, you could use frosting or sprinkles. Enjoy!
