🥘 Ingredients For Chocolate Frosting Fudge

All you need is a bag of chocolate chips and a tub of frosting. It doesn't get much easier than that!

Chocolate frosting fudge ingredients measured out and ready to melt and combine.
    • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips - 12 ounces. Use what you have on hand or check out my guide for the best chocolate brands for melting!
    • Chocolate Frosting - 2 cups homemade buttercream frosting or 1 container of store-bought frosting (16 ounces).
    • Desired Toppings (optional) -  Sprinkles, nuts, holiday decorations, etc.

*Be sure to see the free printable recipe card below for ingredients, exact amounts & instructions with tips!*

    📖 Variations

This is a base recipe that can be altered to match your favorite flavors! Here are some examples of different fudge combinations (keep the amount of frosting and chocolate chips the same):

    • Chocolate Nut Fudge - Chocolate frosting, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and walnuts (or any nut you like).
    • Strawberry White Chocolate Fudge - Strawberry frosting, white chocolate chips, sprinkles.
    • Chocolate Cream Cheese Fudge - Cream cheese frosting, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and sprinkles or nuts.
    • Creamy Peanut Butter Fudge - Cream cheese frosting (or vanilla frosting), and peanut butter (2 cups).
    • Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge - Chocolate frosting, peanut butter (2 cups).
    • White Chocolate Fudge - Vanilla frosting, white chocolate chips, sprinkles, or nuts.

🔪 How To Make Chocolate Frosting Fudge

Microwaving in increments is necessary to keep your chocolate chips from burning. Grab a microwave-safe bowl, silicone spatula, and an 8x8 baking dish.

This fudge recipe makes 64 squares if you get perfect 1" squares cut from your 8x8 baking dish. However, I always cut larger pieces, so your yield may vary based on the size of your final chocolate fudge frosting fudge pieces.

    Melt Your Chocolate

    1
Process photo 2 melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or double boiler method.
    2
    1. Melt. Place 12 ounces of chocolate chips into a microwave-safe mixing bowl and heat in 30-second increments, stirring between each heating, until melted.

    Make The Fudge

Process photo 3 add chocolate frosting to melted chocolate chips.
    3
Process photo 4 mix until well combined.
    4
    1. Mix in frosting. Add a 16-ounce tub of frosting to the chocolate chips and stir to combine until evenly distributed. Transfer the batter to a greased 8x8 baking dish (*see note). Add any desired toppings, then cover with aluminum foil or cling film to set.
    2. Set. Let your fudge sit at room temperature until it sets firmly. If time is a concern, you may refrigerate it for 30 minutes to quick-set your fudge.
    3. Serve. Slice into 1" squares then serve.

There's no doubt this fudge is totally chocolatey and delicious as-is. Enjoy it with a glass of milk, a drizzle of toffee sauce, or some fresh strawberries!

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • To grease your baking dish you may use butter, non-stick cooking spray, cooking oil, or line it with aluminum foil.
    • I don’t normally recommend refrigerating fudge to set, but it works for this recipe/method.
    • Storing: Store at room temperature for 1 month (refrigerating the fudge will dry it out).
    • Freeze individually wrapped pieces or tightly wrapped slabs of fudge for up to 3-4 months. Thaw on the counter at room temperature.

I love this fudge and think it may be a new favorite! The rich delicious flavor of chocolate frosting makes this fudge recipe the best. It's super simple and hard to mess up, which is a big bonus when I'm the one cooking.
