💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- This recipe will yield 1½ tablespoons of pork roast seasoning, which will easily season 2-3 pounds of pork. For a smaller roast, use half of a batch.
- If you don't have ground mustard, you may use 1 tablespoon of Dijon or yellow mustard in its place. This will make it a paste that should be rubbed into the pork right away. Alternatively, you can use one of these ground mustard substitutes.
- After storing your dry rub, always shake the jar before using it to redistribute all of the ingredients.
- To store: Keep pork roast seasoning in an airtight jar stored in a pantry, cabinet, or somewhere dark and cool. It will last for 2-3 years if stored properly. This is also dependent on the freshness of your herbs and spices.

❓ Should You Marinate A Pork Roast?
While you can marinate your pork roast, it isn't essential, especially when using this flavorful dry rub. For added depth of flavor, you can dry-marinate or dry brine the roast by massaging the seasoning into the meat and refrigerating it for 1-12 hours before cooking.
❓ Do You Season A Pork Roast Before Searing?
Yes, if you are going to sear your pork roast you should do it after it is seasoned.
❓ How Long Will Pork Roast Seasoning Last?
The salt in spice blends acts as a natural preservative and helps keep your herbs fresh for longer. When kept in an airtight jar, away from light, this homemade seasoning can last up to 3 years.
However, the flavor and potency may start to diminish after about 1 year and this can vary based on how old the spices were when combined to make your DIY pork roast seasoning.
