🍴 What To Serve With
Chili cheese nuggets can be served by themselves, with a tasty dipping sauce, or with a few other air fryer appetizers! Whenever I bring these to a party, I like to pair them with my jalapeno poppers and fried pickles for a delicious appetizer spread. Enjoy!
🤔 Dipping Sauce Ideas
These air fryer chili cheese nuggets will pair deliciously with a variety of dipping sauces! Here are a few ideas to choose from:
- Ranch Dressing - This creamy, tangy dressing balances out the spiciness of the chili and complements the flavor of the cheese inside.
- Blue Cheese Dressing - The strong, tangy flavor of blue cheese dip can stand up and complement the bold flavors in the chili cheese nuggets.
- Salsa - For an extra kick of spiciness, serve your chili cheese nuggets with your favorite salsa.
- Honey Mustard - The sweet and tangy flavors of honey mustard can balance out the spiciness in the nuggets.
- Marinara Sauce - The acidic tomato flavor in the marinara sauce can cut through the rich, spicy nuggets.
💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes
- One serving of chili cheese nuggets is approximately 8 pieces.
- Don't thaw your frozen chili cheese nuggets. They should be cooked frozen for the best results.
- Make sure not to overcrowd your air fryer basket so that each nugget cooks evenly at the same time. You may need to work in batches depending on how many you choose to cook at a time and the size of your air fryer basket.
- It's important that you don't overcook your nuggets, as the cheese can start to leak out. Your nuggets are done when they are golden brown and crispy.
- Shake the air fryer basket or use a pair of kitchen tongs to flip the nuggets over at the halfway mark.
- Allow your chili cheese nuggets to cool for a few minutes before consuming. Cheese retains heat well and can be very hot coming straight out of the air fryer.
🥡 Storing & Reheating
For the best results, it's better to air fryer as many nuggets as you think you can eat in one setting. If you do have leftovers and want to store them, you can place them in an airtight container and refrigerate them for up to 3 days.
Reheating Chili Cheese Bites
Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (180°C). Reheat for 2 minutes and shake your basket halfway.

❓ Recipe FAQs
Absolutely! If you don't own an air fryer, you can bake them at 400°F (204°C) for about 15-20 minutes. Keep an eye on them during the cooking time and pull them out of the oven when they are golden brown in color and have a crispy exterior.
Although it's not necessary to preheat your air fryer for most air fryer recipes, I recommend preheating it for at least five minutes. This will help ensure that the chili cheese nuggets cook evenly through all at the same time. Also, your nuggets will become delightfully crispy by preheating!
To achieve extra crispy chili cheese nuggets, it's important that you don't air fry too many at a time. Leave enough space between each nugget in a single layer at the bottom of your air fryer basket. Also, make sure to flip them over at the halfway mark.
