In the unlikely event that I'm unable to enjoy all of my lobster dinner, I wouldn't dare throw one bit of that precious lobster away. Store your leftovers in the fridge for one of my satisfying shellfish-centered creations below.

Because the lobster meat is already cooked, most of these recipes are quick and convenient yet still incredibly delicious. It almost feels like cheating, but it's no secret that lobster makes just about anything taste ten times better.

1. Lobster Salad

This cool and creamy lobster salad is precisely what I use to make the New England lobster rolls below. It's equally tasty on fresh butter lettuce as a more traditional salad, or you can serve it with crackers or crostinis as a quick snack or appetizer.

2. New England Lobster Roll

Take my simple lobster salad from the previous recipe and spoon it onto toasted hot dog buns or hoagie rolls with crisp lettuce. Now you have an iconic New England lobster roll perfect for lunch or dinner.

3. Lobster Stock

Homemade lobster stock is a great way to use every last bit of a whole lobster, shells and all. I use this as a base for any seafood recipe calling for broth to give it a boost of rich lobster flavor.

4. Lobster Mac and Cheese Burger

This lobster mac and cheese burger is one of my more fun and decadent creations! It's on a burger bun, but there's no beef patty here. Instead, the patty is made up entirely of white cheddar lobster mac and cheese, and boy, is it good.

5. Lobster Artichoke Dip

Baked hot spinach artichoke dip was already a winner in my household and here on BIWL, so it was easy to assume adding lobster would only make it better. It's rich and creamy with everything you love about artichoke dip, plus tender chunks of lobster meat.

6. Lobster Chowder

Lobster chowder is one of my family's favorite fall soup recipes. It's got buttery pieces of lobster meat, tender potatoes, smokey bacon, and roasted corn in one warm, rich, and creamy soup.

This flavorful Lobster Chowder is perfect for chilly fall weather but is best served in summer time at the height of the lobster and corn seasons!

7. White Cheddar Lobster Mac and Cheese

This white cheddar mac with lobster brings gourmet mac and cheese to new heights, and it's so incredibly easy. I used cream cheese, white cheddar curds, and smoked white cheddar here, but you could always play around with different cheese varieties.

8. Lobster Breakfast Sandwich

Creamy scrambled eggs, pan-seared asparagus, and lump lobster meat on a toasted brioche bun. When I think of the 'Breakfast of Champions, ' this sandwich is the first thing that comes to mind.

9. Lobster Jalapeno Poppers

The jalapenos and bacon add crunch, the cream cheese filling adds creaminess, and the lobster, Parmesan, and fresh lemon zest give these poppers pure decadence. It's an easy recipe, and the delicious results are perfect for anything from dinner parties to poolside snacks.

10. Lobster Risotto

This is my popular copycat version of the beloved lobster recipe from Gordon Ramsay. It's a great way to use leftover lobster, and it's so decadently rich that it's easy to see how it earned a spot in Hell's Kitchen.

11 . Lemon Garlic Lobster Pasta

This 15-minute lemon garlic pasta with lobster is a perfect last-minute meal if you've already got the lobster on hand. It's made with linguini but will work well with spaghetti, angel hair, or any long pasta variety.

12. Lobster Mashed Potatoes

I love classic mashed potatoes as much as the next person, but adding buttered lobster meat takes them from a tasty side dish to Michelin star-worthy. Save your shells to add to the potato water while they boil for an extra boost of lobster flavor.

13. Lobster Ravioli

Homemade lobster ravioli may sound daunting, but you can whip up this restaurant-quality main course in only 20 minutes. Start with cheese ravioli prepared as directed on the package, then toss them in the buttery garlic and white wine sauce loaded with lobster meat.

14. Copycat Red Lobster Lobster Pizza

This thin-crust pizza is a copycat of the fan-favorite recipe served during Red Lobster's Lobster Fest. It features lobster meat with a blend of cheeses, fresh basil, and juicy tomatoes but otherwise keeps the toppings simple to let the shellfish shine!

15. Lobster BLT Sandwich

If you want to get technical, this sandwich should be called a BLLT - bacon, lettuce, lobster, and tomato. You take a traditional BLT sandwich and pile it high with buttery lobster tails for an entirely new, and dare I say improved, take on the old classic.

16. Lobster Shack Nachos

I've recreated Tostitos lobster shack nachos, and it's clear that they knew exactly what they were doing with this recipe. The lobster is coated in butter and lemon before it's sprinkled over crisp tortilla chips covered in queso blanco and fresh sliced chives.

17. Lobster Tacos

These lobster tacos are assembled in soft tortillas that are grilled until crisp for the perfect compromise for families that can't choose between corn or flour tortillas. The cheesy lobster filling has just enough kick from red guajillo chile sauce, topped with avocado and a little shredded lettuce for freshness.

💭 Tips For Cooking With Leftover Lobster

I don't often find myself with extra lobster meat on hand, but when I do, I make sure to store and reheat it properly to get the most for my money. Here are the basic guidelines for cooking leftover lobster:

  1. Store right away. Lobster meat can dry out quickly, so as soon as you're done with dinner, put those leftovers away.
  2. Always refrigerate. Cooked lobster should always be kept in a sealed, airtight container in the fridge. Tupperware, Ziploc storage bags, or a bowl sealed tightly with plastic clingwrap work well. Use it within two days for the best flavor and texture.
  3. Freezing. For longer storage, remove all shells and pat the meat dry with paper towels. Transfer it to a heavy-duty freezer bag and squeeze out the air. Freeze and use within three months.
  4. Reheat, don't overcook. No one wants rubbery lobster meat, so reheat it gently. The meat is already cooked; so lightly reheat it. That means if it's being added to pasta or another warm dish, it should be added near the end of cooking your dish.

One thing's for certain - if it has lobster in it, I'll try it. Drop your favorite must-try lobster recipes in the comments for me to add to this tasty collection.

Instructions

  • Add 1 ½ lbs lobster meat, ⅓ cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, ¼ cup celery, 1 tablespoon chives, ¼ teaspoon each, salt & pepper (to taste), and the optional 1 splash hot sauce to a mixing bowl.
  • Gently stir until all of the ingredients are combined.
  • You can serve your lobster salad right away, but ideally, you want to chill it for at least 30 minutes (up to 4 hours). Garnish with extra chives if desired.

Notes

Tips:
  • 1 ½ pounds of lobster meat is roughly 3 ½ cups.
  • For the best-tasting lobster salad, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. If possible, try to use fresh lobster meat, lemon juice, and a good brand of mayo like Duke's, Hellman's, or Best Foods.
  • To ensure tender and succulent lobster meat, cook a whole boiled lobster in a large pot of boiling water for about 7-9 minutes (for a 1-pound lobster). Adjust the cooking time accordingly for larger lobsters. Be careful not to overcook the lobster, or you will end up with tough, rubbery meat!
  • Let freshly cooked lobster cool before making lobster salad. This makes it easier to handle, and the salad tastes best cold anyways!
  • Adjust the seasonings to suit your tastes. You can use more or less salt & pepper, and I find a splash of hot sauce (or sprinkle of paprika) adds a lovely little kick. Dill also makes a great addition either mixed into the salad or added as garnish!
  • Lobster salad tastes best when served chilled. After preparing the salad, cover and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. This also helps the salad hold its shape when served.
  • You can also try using different types of seafood in this salad, such as shrimp, crab, or scallops, for a variation on the traditional lobster salad!
Storing:
  • Lobster salad should always be kept in an airtight container in the fridge and is best enjoyed within 2 days. I don't recommend freezing it because the mayonnaise will separate.
