❤️ Why I Love This Recipe
- Easy. This is truly one of the easiest recipes you will ever make. Put all the ingredients in the crock pot, stir, then come back in 3 hours, and it will be ready to eat.
- Tasty. Putting all those ingredients into one big pot really pays off in the taste department. The pork chops have 3 hours to marinate in the soup and seasonings, absorbing all those delicious flavors.
- Versatile. There are so many ways to enjoy this dish. Serve each pork chop with your favorite potato dish (mashed, baked, scalloped) and a vegetable for a traditional meal any night of the week.
🥘 Ingredients
Your trip to the grocery store will take you longer than the preparation time for this meal, but it’s an easy trip if you have to grab a few items. Keep extras on hand for more great crock pot dinners.
- Pork Chops– 2 pounds of pork chops (about 6 chops). While bone-in meat is often juicier than boneless, using the crock-pot to cook these will make any pork chop tender and juicy. Choose what you prefer or what is available at your store. *I prefer boneless pork chops or sliced pork loin for this recipe.
- Cream of Chicken Condensed Soup – 22 ounces of cream of chicken condensed soup. This is the family-sized Campbell’s Soup brand. If you can’t find the family-size can at your store, grab two regular-size cans. You can also use cream of mushroom soup.
- Lipton Onion Soup Mix – 1 packet of Lipton onion soup mix. Lipton onion soup mix is an easy way to add some flavor to baked dishes. You can use my homemade onion soup mix if you do not want store bought.
- Mushrooms (optional) – 4 ounces of mushrooms. If you like mushrooms, slice and add them for some additional texture and flavor.
- Water (or milk or chicken broth) – 1 cup of water. Water is the easiest option and makes a tasty sauce, but you can use milk or chicken broth for added creaminess or flavor.
- Garlic (optional) – 1 tablespoon of garlic. Garlic is a great addition for an extra boost in flavor. Chop up 3-4 garlic gloves or measure a tablespoon of already chopped/crushed garlic.
- Salt & Pepper (to taste) – Give the salt and pepper a little shake over the crock-pot before cooking. After it has cooked, taste the sauce and add more salt and pepper as needed.

🧂 Substitutions
- You can easily swap out the cream of chicken soup for the cream of mushroom soup. You will get the same consistency and similar flavor. You can even use one small can of each soup for a combination of the two.
- You can swap out a Pork Loin if you can’t find Pork Chops! Boneless pork chops are essentially a pork loin that has been sliced. So, if you prefer boneless pork chops and can’t find them at your grocery store – look for a 2-pound pork loin instead. Once you find a pork loin, take it to the butcher and ask if they will slice it into 6-8 pork chops. You can also slice it at home.
- Swap chicken for the pork. Pork is considered the “other white meat” because of the way it looks when it is cooked. It has a mild flavor, so you can often swap pork for chicken and chicken for pork in a recipe.
🔪 How To Make Crockpot Pork Chops
The most important piece to making this recipe is deciding what time you want to eat. These pork chops take 3 hours to cook, so you do need to plan accordingly to coordinate your sides.
All you will need is your crockpot or slow cooker, a wooden spoon, and a meat thermometer.
This recipe will make about 6 servings of pork chops, so it's perfect for a family dinner.
Add Ingredients
Step 1: Prep. In your Crock Pot, add the 2 pounds (907 grams) of pork chops, along with 22 ounces (624 grams) of cream of chicken condensed soup (or cream of mushroom), 1 packet of onion soup mix, salt, and pepper as well as any optional ingredients you'd like (4 ounces (113 grams) of mushrooms, 1 tablespoon (8 grams) of garlic, and 1 cup (237 grams) of milk/water/broth).
Step 2: Mix. Give everything a good stir until well coated, and put the cover on the Crock Pot.
Cook & Serve
Step 3: Cook. Cook for 3 hours on the high setting.
Step 4: Temp the meat. After 3 hours, check that the pork chops are done by using an instant-read digital thermometer. Insert the probe into one pork chop and see that it reads at least 145°F (63°C).
Step 5: Whisk. When pork chops are done, remove them and put them on a serving platter. Whisk the gravy in the crock pot. *Whisking the gravy will help combine all the flavors and incorporate any juices from the pork chops into the soup mixture. If you don’t have a whisk, stir vigorously with a large spoon.
Step 6: Serve with gravy. Ladle the gravy over pork chops and serve immediately.
You can serve the gravy over the pork chops or in a separate bowl. If everyone enjoys the gravy, place pork chops and gravy together in one serving dish.
Or, if you have any picky eaters who don’t love sauces, simply serve the pork chops on one platter. Ladle the gravy into a separate bowl.
💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- What’s best? Water, milk, or chicken broth? Water, milk, or chicken broth make the cream of chicken/mushroom soup into a gravy. Water is the easiest choice and works perfectly. If you prefer a creamier gravy, then use milk. 2% or whole milk will give you a thicker and creamier gravy than skim or 1% milk. Broth also adds tons of flavor to your pork chops.
- If you are looking for flavor rather than creaminess, consider trying chicken broth. Chicken broth will enrich the flavor of the soup for a nice full-flavored gravy. Want to test out both? Use ½ cup milk + ½ cup chicken broth.
- Do you need to check the temperature? It is highly recommended that anytime you cook meat, you check the internal temperature to make sure it is fully cooked before eating.
- Best way to get a temperature reading. Remove one pork chop from the crock pot, place it on a dish, and insert the tip of your digital meat thermometer into the thickest part of the pork chop. Wait to see if it reaches at least 145°F (63°C). If it’s not quite done, simply return to the Crock Pot and continue cooking.

🥡 Storing & Reheating
To store leftovers simply cover the serving dish tightly with plastic cling wrap and put it in the refrigerator.
You can also transfer them to an airtight container. If properly refrigerated, you can keep these in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Leftovers
If you have leftover chops that you want to store for longer, they also make a great freezer meal. Simply let them cool off completely, and then place your pork chops into a sealed container or storage bag.
They can be frozen for up to 3 months. When you are ready to eat them, let them defrost in the refrigerator overnight before reheating them.
Reheating
Store slow cooker pork chops in an oven or microwave-safe container to make reheating easy! You can place the dish in the oven at 350°F (175°C/Gas Mark 4), or in the microwave and heat until warmed through.
If needed, you can add a splash of milk or broth to thin out the sauce a little bit when reheating.
❓ Recipe FAQs
Yes, cooking pork chops from frozen in your crockpot is safe, although the cooking time may need to be increased. Once the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C), they are ready to eat! Check out my post on pork internal temperatures to learn more!
Nope! There is no need to brown your pork chops before cooking them in the slow cooker. I like this recipe to be quick and simple, so all you need to do is just add everything and let it cook!
If you have tough pork chops, the odds are that they weren't done cooking yet! They need to be cooked for a longer amount of time in order to become completely tender, so don't pull them out too early!

Can this be cooked on the slow setting?
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
Yes, definitely! I typically double the time for cooking on low (but you could check these around 5 hours). Thanks for asking!

Merci Angela !

"This recipe is really good, it is simple and I will make it again.
I tried to make it without the optional liquid to have a thick sauce but in the end the onion soup gave a very salty taste so I added milk.
Next time I will add the milk from the start.
Thank you Angela!"

Can you cook this on low longer time?
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
Yes, definitely! My bone-in pork chops (approximately 1/2 inch in thickness) take 5-6 hours on low. Enjoy!
