😋 The Tastiest Air Fryer Shake N Bake Pork Dinner

When you can find a recipe that is not only simple but offers a ton of flavor from only a few ingredients, you have a real winning dinner! These air fryer Shake & Bake pork chops are a perfect example.

Pork chops, Shake & Bake, and olive oil – that’s all you need. Shake N Bake is a ready-to-use seasoned breadcrumb coating that gives you a ton of taste. Plus, you get the perfect mix of a crunchy outside and juicy inside all from one ingredient.

❤️ Why I Love This Recipe

  • Super Easy. Not only is the prep easy on these tasty pork chops, but the actual cooking too. The air fryer does all the work and cuts the extra time and clean-up of baking or frying the pork chops.
  • Tasty. If you like fried chicken but want a healthier and equally tasty option, you will love these easy air fryer shake & bake pork chops. The crunchy outside seals in the juiciness of the pork chop making for a perfect main dish.
  • Versatile. You can build so many amazing meals around these simple pork chops. They are great for a simple dinner in the middle of the week with a quick side veggie, or you can dress them up with potatoes and gravy for a nice family meal at the end of the week.

🥘 Ingredients

Olive oil and Shake N Bake are great ingredients to have in your pantry – you can use them for several different recipes. I also like to keep pork chops in my freezer so that I can make a quick dinner whenever needed.

  • Pork Chops – Bone-in pork chops and boneless pork chops both work for this recipe. Bone in meat is often a bit juicier than boneless, but boneless is often easier to cook with - both are delicious!
  • Shake & Bake Pork – Shake and Bake is a brand of seasoned Panko used to coat the pork. You can purchase it at the store or make your own using my homemade shake and bake recipe.
  • Cooking Oil – Using extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) in this dish adds additional flavor to the recipe. Alternatively, you can use your preferred cooking oil that handles high heat well. I like beef tallow the most lately.
  • Extra Herbs & Spices - I like to add onion powder, garlic powder, ground black pepper, paprika or smoked paprika, ground sage (great with pork!), and herbs like parsley, oregano, or thyme. These all complement pork and will make your meal more flavorful.

Ingredient Note

Can’t find pork chops? Look for a Pork Loin Round. If you can’t find boneless pork loin chops in your grocery store you can create your own.

Look for a 1 ½ to 2-pound boneless pork loin in the butcher section of the grocery store. These will usually be in an oval shape.

Place the pork loin on a cutting board and begin at one end, about 1 inch in from the end. Slice it as if you were slicing a loaf of bread.

Your butcher will happily cut this for you as well.

Be sure to see the free printable recipe card below for ingredients, exact amounts & instructions with tips!

🔪 How To Air Fry Shake & Bake Pork Chops

These pork chops only take 12-15 minutes to cook. To make sure you can enjoy them hot out of the air fryer, compare the cooking time on your side dishes.

1x recipe yields 4 servings, approximately 4 ounces of each pork chop. If you need more, work in batches, and remember that your air fryer gets hotter as you go (so check the pork chops earlier).

Preheat & Prep The Pork

Step 1: Preheat. Set your air fryer to 400°F (205°C) while you prepare the pork chops.

Step 2: Prepare pork chops. Rinse and pat dry your 1-pound (0.45 kilograms) pork chops (3-4 pork chops). Brush a small amount of cooking oil over both sides of the chops. Note: I like to measure and pour the tablespoon of oil into a little dish and then use a basting brush to coat the pork chops. OR, just spritz after breading.

❗ Top Tip: Brining For Super Juicy Pork Chops

Lean cuts of pork, including pork chops and pork tenderloin, are prone to drying out while cooking. Using your air fryer helps to reduce this moisture loss but for extra juicy pork chops try my easy brine.

Combine 2 cups of water with ¼ cup of both kosher salt and granulated sugar. Stir and dissolve then soak the pork chops in a container or plastic zip-top storage or freezer bag.

Soak the pork for at least 30 minutes, and no longer than 8 hours. Remove from the brine and dry excess moisture with paper towels.

Step 3: Coat pork chops. Put 1 cup (236.59 grams) or 1 packet of Shake N Bake mix into a plastic bag, individually place each pork chop into the bag, twist the bag to seal, and shake to coat.

Process image 1 showing coated pork chops in the air fryer.
Process image 2 showing coated pork chops turned over at the half way cooking point, in the air fryer.

Air Fry & Serve

Step 4: Air fry. Place seasoned pork chops into the air fryer and bake at 400°F (205°C) for 12-15 minutes (photo 1). Be sure to flip about halfway through the cooking time, about 6-8 minutes (photo 2). Pork chops are done when they reach 145°F (63°C) as read by a digital meat thermometer.

Step 5: Serve. Remove from the basket and transfer to a plate or serving platter. Cover loosely with a square of aluminum foil and allow the pork chops to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

🥗🥘🍲 Best Served With

Choose your favorite vegetable and side dish to make this a complete meal. garlic red skin Mashed potatoes and pork gravy are great additions, you even can pour the gravy over the pork chops when serving.

If you want a super easy Southern-inspired meal, complete with dessert, make a batch of my Jiffy corn casserole to serve as a side dish. Then bake up my easy pineapple upside down cake.

All of these are super easy, and the flavors will complement the pork chops. Enjoy!

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • Bake instead of air fry. See my homemade shake and bake pork chops for traditional oven-baked instructions.
  • Coat your air fryer basket with oil from a spritz bottle or mister. Aerosol-based non-stick sprays damage the non-stick coating of your air fryer basket. If you don't have a spritz bottle or mister, simply brush oil on using a pastry brush or use a paper towel instead.
  • To reduce the moisture on the pork chops. Instead of coating the chops in oil, you can use a spritz bottle or mister to coat the breaded pork chops.
  • Avoid the temptation to try and shake multiple pork chops at once. It’s important to give each pork chop its turn in the shake-and-bake bag to get evenly coated. If you find yourself without a plastic bag, just grab a plastic container with a lid. Place the Shake and Bake in the container, place one pork chop, put the lid on – make sure it’s sealed – and shake.

🥡 Storing & Reheating

Breaded air fryer pork chops taste best freshly made because the breading can dry out during reheating. This doesn’t mean you can’t reheat them though. Leftover pork chops will still be tasty and make great options for a quick lunch or dinner during the week.

To save leftover chops, store them in the fridge in an airtight container or portion them into individual containers for super convenient weekday lunches. You can store the pork chops in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

Tall image of air fryer shake n bake pork chops.

Reheating

If you are eating at home, reheat these pork chops in the air fryer. This is the best method to get crispy results and it's super easy too. Just pop them back in the air fryer at 375°F (150°C) to reheat and keep that yummy crunch.

If you are not at home, you can reheat these in the microwave. They will not have the same crunch as when you originally made them but will still be tasty.

❓ Air Fryer Shake & Bake Pork Chops Recipe FAQs

Can I coat my pork chops in eggs before Shake N Bake breading?

Yes, definitely! The egg acts as a binding agent that works exceptionally well with any breading. Plus, it adds rich flavor to your air-fried pork chops.

Why Does My Shake & Bake Always Get Soggy?

A couple of things to look at:
(1) Make sure that you set the pork chops out at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
And (2) Pat them dry thoroughly before moving on to breading them (especially if coating them with oil spray or egg).
Since your air fryer already has venting to circulate air around the pork chops, the next thing is to make sure that you do not (3) crowd the air fryer.

M 49 and I have never seen instructions with an egg on shake & bake before, are you on the east coast or in the Midwest. Even in Wisconsin I never saw such a thing, it's always been moisten with water or maybe milk with the ranch. Inquiring minds want to know LoL :D.
My question is do you HAVE to use EVOO or can you just use water? The whole point of aur frying is less oil so I'd rather not add oil LoL 🙂

You can opt to just rinse with water, pat the pork chops fairly dry but leave enough moisture that the shake n bake can stick. They do crisp up the best if you have a spritz bottle and can lightly mist with some EVOO or coconut oil.

Hello Jessica! The dry ingredients in the mix alone (as long as they haven't been used with any protein) can be stored like any breadcrumbs but I usually say about 6 months. Make sure to seal with as little air in your container as possible and keep the DIY shake-n-bake mix in a cabinet or pantry away from light. Thanks for asking!!

This is a help? We're just about to start airfrying the chops and when we opened the box, there was 2 pkges. Of the seasoning mix, 2 bags
and another package of seasoning mix in a different size bag plus it was a different color! Has anyone had this happen to them before?
