🔪 How To Make Taco Bell Creamy Baja Sauce
This sauce is so simple to make because there's no cooking required! You will need measuring spoons, a food processor (or blender), a mixing bowl, and some plastic wrap.
If you want to get technical, this recipe makes 6 servings but it all depends on how much sauce you like to use! You can easily scale it up if you need more.
- Puree. Add the veggies (1 whole jalapeno, ¼ cup red bell pepper, and 2 tablespoons of onion) to a food processor (or blender) and puree until smooth.
- Combine ingredients. In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon of vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of lime juice. Mix in the puree from the food processor until thoroughly combined.
- Add the seasonings. Add the remaining ingredients to the sauce (¼ teaspoon each of salt, garlic powder, cumin, mustard powder, and pepper). Stir until evenly distributed.
- Chill. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the fridge to chill for a few hours to let the flavors meld before serving.
Use this sauce on whatever you like! I personally love serving it with these air fryer quesadillas or shredded chicken tacos. Enjoy!
💭 Tips & Notes
- You could also opt for 2 teaspoons of pickled jalapeno for less heat.
- Use a good quality mayonnaise like Hellman’s, called 'Best Foods' on the West Coast, or Duke’s for best results.
- One fresh lime typically yields 2 tablespoons of lime juice when squeezed, so you'll need a half lime for this recipe.
- To store: Keep your Taco Bell creamy Baja sauce in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator and use within 1 week.
❓ Is Baja Sauce Vegan?
This creamy Baja sauce is not vegan due to the mayonnaise. However, you can simply swap the mayo for vegan mayo and follow the recipe as directed. Then it will be vegan-friendly!
❓ Is Baja Sauce Spicy?
It depends on your tolerance (and your jalapeno). I don't find this sauce particularly spicy, but you can swap the jalapeno for pickled jalapeno to reduce the heat. It is more jalapeno-flavored than it is 'hot'.
❓ What Do You Put Baja Sauce On?
You can put it on whatever you like! Homemade tortilla chips, burritos, tacos dorados, and nachos supreme are all good options. You can even use it to dip raw veggies like carrots or celery!
