- Saute mushrooms. In a large skillet melt the 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until it begins to bubble. Add the cleaned and sliced 4 ounces of mushrooms then saute for 3 minutes.
- Add in ingredients. Add the 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and saute for an additional 30 seconds, then stir in the ½ cup broth to deglaze the skillet (scraping any bits on the bottom of the skillet). Stir and add the remaining ingredients: ½ cup of heavy cream, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, ½ teaspoon of Dijon mustard, and ¼ teaspoon of salt and pepper.
- Simmer. Bring to a low simmer and reduce the heat as needed to maintain a slow simmer for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the sauce has thickened to a creamy sauce that clings to your spatula remove it from the heat.

❓ Recipe FAQs

Absolutely! This recipe calls for some white button or cremini mushrooms, but you can use any of your favorite types of mushrooms. Baby Bella or shiitake mushrooms would be delicious too! You can even use a blend of mushrooms if you'd like.
I would not recommend freezing this mushroom steak sauce. When the heavy cream in this sauce defrosts, it can cause it to split and have a watery and undesirable texture.
