Easy Air Fryer Steak
Sometimes cooking steak feels like a science when you're trying to get a crispy golden-brown sear on the exterior without over or under cooking it. The air fryer makes those worries a thing of the past!
An air fryer steak tastes just as delicious as any other method of cooking steak, but there's less mess and less stress! Try making a steak in your air fryer tonight!

🥘 Ingredients
All you need is a few basic ingredients for an incredibly tasty steak! For the best results, look for a steak that is a nice and red with plenty of marbling.
- Ribeye - 8 ounce ribeye, or steak(s) of your choice.
- Olive Oil - ½ a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.
- Steak Seasoning - ½ a tablespoon, see recipe or use your own.
- Butter - 1 tablespoon (per steak).
*Be sure to see the recipe card below for ingredients, amounts & instructions!*
🔪 Instructions
These steps are super simple and always result in an incredible steak! Grab your air fryer, some tongs, and a few sheets of foil.
- Prep. Pat your 8 ounce ribeye steak (or whatever steak(s) you are using) dry with paper towels and coat it lightly with ½ a tablespoon of olive oil. (*See note.)
- Season. Season your steak with ½ a tablespoon of steak seasoning, making sure to press it firmly into the meat. *If not cooking immediately, let the steak sit out at room temperature for 45 minutes before air frying.
- Cook. Place your steak in the air fryer basket and cook at 390°F (199°C) for 4 minutes. Then flip your steak and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
- Rest. Once your steak is done, remove it from the air fryer and set on a cutting board or plate. Top your steak with 1 tablespoon of butter and tent foil loosely over the top. Allow your steak to rest for at least 5 minutes before serving.
Any of your favorite steakhouse sides would make for an awesome steak dinner. A few of my favorites are creamed spinach, bacon wrapped asparagus, and baked sweet potatoes. Enjoy!
💠Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- I made this recipe with 1 8-ounce ribeye, but you could easily fit 2 smaller steaks of your choice and the recipe will work. The ingredients on this list are PER STEAK, so if making more, be sure to double them.
- If using 2 steaks, make sure there is room for the air to circulate around and between them. Don't over-crowd your air fryer!
- If you are working with particularly thick steaks, you may need to add 1 minute per side.
- For the best results, set your steaks out ahead of time so they can come to room temperature before cooking.
- These directions are for a medium-rare steak. If you prefer your steak cooked more or less, follow these guidelines and check it with a meat thermometer- Rare: 125°F, Medium-Rare: 135°F, Medium: 145°F, Medium Well: 155°F, Well: 160°F
- Storing: Steak will last for up to 4 days in the fridge when placed in a shallow, airtight container. To reheat, place in your air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 4-5 minutes. Let rest for 5 minutes before you dig in!
