🔪 How To Make Microwave Omelets

Microwave omelets are incredibly easy to make and only have a total time of 7 minutes until they are ready to be served! Grab your mixing bowl, a whisk, omelet maker (microwave omelet pan), or bowl to get started!

Although this recipe only makes 1 microwave omelet, it can easily serve 2 people. You can also quickly and easily duplicate this recipe to make enough for the rest of the family!

Process image 1 showing eggs and milk in a bowl.
Process image 2 showing whisked eggs in microwave container.
Process image 3 showing cooked eggs in microwave container.
    1. Combine ingredients. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the 3 eggs, ⅛ teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon of optional milk, or water (if using), and whisk with a fork.
    2. Transfer. Transfer the whisked egg mixture over the diced ¼ cup ham or your omelet fillings into your omelet maker or bowl. Seal and place in the microwave.
    3. Cook omelet. Cook on high power for 2 minutes (the eggs should be partially set). Flip your omelet maker and continue heating in 30-second intervals until the egg is completely set.
    4. Serve. Open the omelet pan and gently transfer to a plate. Add the shredded ¼ cup of cheddar cheese over your omelet and serve warm.

My microwave omelets are delicious as-is, however if you are wanting a well-balanced breakfast you can add your favorite breakfast sides. For a quick and on the go breakfast, add some microwave bacon and air fryer french toast sticks! Enjoy!

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • For the best results when cooking eggs, allow your eggs to warm to room temperature prior to cooking them.
    • Some omelet makers suggest using non-stick cooking spray. Mine doesn't have an issue with sticking so I opt to skip this, or use some melted butter because I like the flavor better.
    • To make your omelet without a microwave omelet pan, simply combine and cook in a shallow bowl. Alternatively, you can use a rimmed plate (coated with butter or non-stick cooking spray) to cook your omelet so that it can still be filled and folded.
    • When microwaving your omelet on a plate, cook for 1 minute on high power. Use a spatula to lift the cooked edges and allow the uncooked egg to fill in to the edges of your plate. Microwave in 30-second intervals until cooked fully. Add fillings and fold your omelet.

🥡 Storing & Reheating Microwave Omelets

Store any leftovers in an airtight storage container and keep refrigerated for up to 3-4 days.

    Reheating A Microwave Omelet

Place individual portions onto a microwave-safe plate and heat in 30-second intervals until warm.

    ❓ FAQ

Can I cook more than 1 omelet in the microwave at a time?

Yes, as long as there is room in your microwave for two dishes. Note that you will need to add more cooking time to cook more than a single omelet.

Do I have to use a microwave omelet pan?

Definitely not! You are able to use a microwavable bowl or plate if you don't want to use an omelet pan. You can also use a cup, ramekin, or coffee mug!

How long to microwave an omelet in an omelet maker?

The total cooking time will vary based on your fillings, how many eggs you use, the dish you choose to cook your microwave omelet in, and the actual wattage of your microwave. In general, most omelets should be fully cooked within 2-5 minutes.
