🥘 Ingredients
This recipe only requires a handful of simple ingredients. If you like your ribs spicy get a hot BBQ sauce, or opt for a sweeter sauce if that is what you prefer!
- Chicken Broth - ½ a cup of chicken broth, or beef broth in a pinch.
- Country Style Pork Ribs - 2 pounds of meat. You could also use boneless country style ribs.
- Apple Cider Vinegar - ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar (it helps the meat get tender).
- Salt & Pepper - I used ½ a teaspoon of each, but you can use more or less to taste.
- BBQ Sauce - Sweet Baby Ray's is my personal favorite, or use my honey BBQ or Hawaiian BBQ sauce.
- Liquid Smoke - Just 1 tablespoon to add some smoky flavor.
- Light Brown Sugar (optional) - 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar or honey.

🔪 How To Make Instant Pot Country Style Pork Ribs
Like I said before, the Instant Pot does all the hard work here. So, grab your pressure cooker, a baking sheet, a small mixing bowl, and a basting brush.
- Prep. Add ½ cup chicken broth to your Instant Pot followed by 2 pounds of country style pork ribs. Pour ¼ cup apple cider vinegar over the top, then season with ½ a teaspoon each (or more) of salt and pepper.
- Cook. Seal the lid to your Instant Pot and cook on the manual high setting for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes is up, NPR (natural pressure release) for 10 minutes. Finish venting the knob and transfer your pork ribs to a baking sheet.
- Preheat. Preheat your oven to the high broil setting.
- Make BBQ coating. In a small mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of BBQ sauce, 1 tablespoon of Liquid Smoke, and 2 tablespoons of the optional light brown sugar (if using). Use a basting brush to coat the ribs generously on all sides.
- Broil. Pop the ribs under the broiler and broil until the sauce is caramelized to your liking. Then remove them from the oven and serve right away.
These ribs pair wonderfully with all of your favorite BBQ side dishes. A few of my favorites are my milk butter boiled corn on the cob and an easy loaded baked potato. Enjoy!
💭 Tips & Notes
- Don't forget - The pressure cooker will take between 10-15 minutes to heat up before cooking. Don't forget to add this time into your planning so you can finish your sides and meat around the same time!
- I prefer chicken broth, but beef works too! Chicken broth usually works best with pork (except in Asian cooking), however, either chicken or beef broth or stock will work wonderfully.
- You don't have to broil your ribs, but I highly recommend it! This optional step gives the ribs a nice 'char' and thickens the coating. The pork ribs are fully cooked before this step and can be served with BBQ sauce right out of the Instant Pot if desired.

🥡 Storing & Reheating
Leftover country style pork ribs can be placed in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 4 days.
To reheat leftovers by place them in a baking dish covered with foil and popping them in the oven at 250°F (120°C) until heated through (20-30 minutes). A splash of broth at the bottom of the pan will keep them from drying out.

- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke (optional)
- 2 tablespoon light brown sugar (optional, or use honey, or maple syrup)

Hello, do you think a balsamic vinegar flavored with truffle would be a good substitute for the acv to help tenderize the meat? Thanks!
Angela Latimer says
Yes, and I would simply reduce the amount of balsamic vs ACV (at least in half). Be careful of it overpowering the flavor of everything else.

Amazing! So simple, quick and tasty.
The ribs were frozen, I defrosted for a few minutes in microwave, then just in the IP per the recipe and they were perfect. The broiler at the end with bbq sauce was just right.
