Reheating Biscuits In The Oven

The oven is typically the best option to reheat most food, even biscuits! However, there are a few key steps to take so they don't dry out as they warm.

Step 1: Preheat. First, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C/Gas Mark 4).

Step 2: Prep. Next, place parchment paper on a baking sheet.

Step 3: Brush biscuits. Brush the biscuits with melted butter and space them out evenly on the sheet. This allows them to stay moist, flaky, and flavorful. You can also wrap them in aluminum foil to help retain the moisture.

Step 4: Reheat biscuits. Bake at 350°F (175°C/Gas Mark 4) for 3-5 minutes, occasionally checking to ensure they do not overcook or burn.

*If you are reheating frozen biscuits, cook for 12-15 minutes.

Reheating Biscuits In The Microwave

To warm your biscuits in the microwave and not end up with a hard lump you cannot eat, all you have to do is follow these easy steps below. This just may become your new favorite method because it's so quick!

Step 1: Prep. Wrap your biscuits individually in dampened paper towels (damp, not soaking wet).

Step 2: Transfer. Place them on a microwave-safe plate, spaced evenly apart.

Step 3: Reheat. Cook in short bursts of 10-15 seconds until they are heated all the way through or to your preference.

For frozen biscuits, cook for 4 minutes.

Reheating Biscuits On The Stovetop

Preheat your pan over medium heat on the stovetop to keep the biscuits soft when reheated. Warming them this way is similar to using the oven and helps keep them retain that smooth, buttery flavor!

Step 1: Prep biscuits. Wrap the biscuits in aluminum foil before placing them in the pan (if you use a non-stick pan, this step is unnecessary).

Step 2: Transfer to pan. Place them in the pan, evenly spaced so they are not touching, then cover with a lid. This aids in keeping in the moisture.

Step 3: Reheat. Cook biscuits on low heat for 2 minutes. *Flip every 30 seconds if wrapped in foil and every 15 seconds if using a non-stick pan.

For frozen biscuits, cook on low heat for 6 minutes, flipping every minute.

Reheating Biscuits In The Toaster Oven

Similar to the oven reheating method, the toaster oven works well for smaller batches of leftover biscuits!

Step 1: Preheat. Preheat the toaster to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2: Add butter. Apply melted butter to the tops of the biscuits and place them on a sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 3: Reheat. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 3 minutes, keeping an eye on them so they do not overcook or burn.

For frozen biscuits, bake for 10 minutes.

Reheating Biscuits In The Air Fryer

The air fryer is another great choice for reheating small batches of leftover biscuits.

Step 1: Preheat the air fryer. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2: Prep biscuits. Brush with butter for extra flavor and moisture, and wrap in aluminum foil (which also aids in preserving moisture).

Step 3: Reheat. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 2 minutes or until warmed to your liking. *Make sure to space them evenly in the basket and not overcrowd them.

To reheat frozen biscuits in the air fryer, leave them in for a full 3 minutes.

Reheating Biscuits and Gravy

The best way to reheat biscuits and gravy is in the microwave!

Reheat for 1-3 minutes, depending on your amount (if there is only one biscuit, cook for about 30-45 seconds). Make sure to use a covered microwave-safe dish. *You do not have to apply melted butter to the biscuits as they are already in gravy.

If you are reheating the biscuits and gravy separately, you can prepare the biscuits with any of the methods mentioned above. To reheat the gravy, use a pan over low heat, stirring often.

If the gravy is too thick, add some milk to thin it out. (You can substitute milk with chicken stock if you are having fried chicken with your meal).

🥡 Storing & Reheating

You can safely store leftover biscuits at room temperature by placing them in an air-tight container. They will remain fresh for 5 days.

If you want to store them in the refrigerator, they will stay good for 1 week by placing them in an air-tight container or plastic storage bag.

Freezing Biscuits

To keep your leftover biscuits for a later date, you can store them in the freezer. Wrap each biscuit in aluminum foil and place it in a plastic freezer bag. They will last for 2 months.

Be sure to write the date on the outside of the bag so you don't forget when you put them in!

Reheating Biscuits

To reheat frozen biscuits, you can place them straight into the oven since there is no need to thaw them first! Use the same method for the oven as you would for room temperature or refrigerated biscuits and bake them for 12-15 minutes, or until warm throughout.

Fresh dough can also be frozen to make biscuits from scratch.

I hope these tips and methods help keep your biscuits from drying out so they can be served and enjoyed as much as when fresh. Comment below if you have any questions, or let me know what method worked best for you!
