🥘 Chipotle Seasoning Ingredients
I typically keep my kitchen stocked with these herbs and spices, so you may have some on hand already! You should be able to find dried chipotle peppers at your grocery store, but if not, you can use chili powder instead.
- Ground Chipotle Chili Pepper - 1 tablespoon of ground chipotle chili pepper or any chili powder.
- Cayenne Pepper - 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to give it some heat.
- Dried Oregano - 1 teaspoon of dried oregano or a dried oregano substitute.
- Dried Thyme - 1 teaspoon of dried thyme, a dried thyme substitute, or ¼ teaspoon of ground thyme.
- Ground Cumin - 1 teaspoon of ground cumin.
- Garlic Powder - 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
- Onion Powder - 1 teaspoon of onion powder or an onion powder substitute.

❓ Recipe FAQs
Chipotle seasoning does have a kick to it. You can make it spicier or less spicy by adjusting how much chipotle powder and cayenne pepper you use.
This may work in some recipes, but not all. If the peppers are a key part of the dish, this seasoning won't be a great substitute for their moisture or texture. If you're just looking to add some chipotle flavor, this seasoning will work great!
When stored properly in a sealed container, chipotle seasoning can last 1-2 years! For the best flavor, I recommend using it within 6 months. However, it's safe to eat for much longer.
