🔪 How To Make Air Fryer Green Bean Fries

One of the best parts of this recipe is that the air fryer does all the hard cooking work for you! You only need 3 bowls to make your dredging station, plus your air fryer to start your green bean fries.

This recipe will make around 6 servings. This is great for a small party, a kids' snack, or a dinnertime side dish!

Process image 2 showing flour coated green bean being dipped into egg.
Process image 3 showing breading mixture.
Process image 4 showing dipping green bean into bread coating mix.
    1. Wash. First, wash and trim 1 pound of green beans, then pat them dry with paper towels.
    2. Prep the coating. Make your dredging station: in one bowl, add the first portion of ½ cup all-purpose flour, the second bowl with 2 large beaten eggs, and the third bowl with the breading (combined 1 cup of breadcrumbs, the second portion of ¼ cup flour, ½ cup of Parmesan cheese, and ½ teaspoon each of salt, garlic powder, and ground black pepper).
    3. Coat. Coat the green beans in the flour, then in the beaten egg. Work in batches if necessary.
    4. Dip. Next, dip each egg-coated green bean into the breadcrumb mixture, press gently, and roll so they are fully coated on all sides.
    5. Cook. Place the green beans into the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Air fry at 400°F (205°C) for 3-5 minutes or until golden and crispy. Use tongs to remove the air-fried green beans.
    6. Serve. Serve right away with your favorite variety of dipping sauces!

This homemade ranch dressing or cheese sauce is perfect with these crunchy green bean fries! Another favorite of mine is serving them alongside these air fryer chicken breasts. Enjoy!

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • To make this recipe keto or gluten-free, swap the all-purpose flour and leave out the breadcrumbs! You can use some crushed pork rinds instead of the breadcrumbs if desired. Either way, they'll still get a light crispy coating without all the carbs.
    • Use one hand to coat the green beans in the eggs, then the opposite hand to coat them in the breadcrumb mixture. That way, you have one wet hand and one dry hand, and the coating won't stick to your fingers!
    • If your air fryer is prone to sticking, you can coat the bottom of the basket with olive oil. Don't use an aerosolized non-stick spray in air fryer baskets. It will erode the non-stick coating.
    • The cook time will vary depending on the model of your air fryer. Check the green beans after 3 minutes of cooking. They crisp up quickly and should be close to ready, if not ready, after 3-5 minutes.
    • For extra crispy green beans, spritz them with olive oil before cooking.

    🥡 Storing & Reheating

Leftovers can be placed in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 4 days. I don't recommend freezing them because they tend to become soggy.

Reheating Air Fryer Green Bean Fries

For the crispiest results, reheat your green beans in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2-3 minutes.
