🔪 How To Make Ritz Chicken Casserole

Ritz chicken casserole is incredibly easy and quick to make! You will need some mixing bowls, a 9X13 baking dish, and measuring utensils.

This recipe will make roughly 6 servings. There is plenty for the whole family to enjoy!

    1. Prep. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
    2. Mix. In a large mixing bowl, mix the 1 cup of sour cream, 10.5 ounces of cream of chicken condensed soup, ½ cup of green onion, and 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning. *Do not mix any liquids with the condensed soup.
    3. Add chicken. Add in the 4 cups of shredded or cubed cooked chicken and mix until well coated then transfer into your prepared baking dish.
    4. Assemble casserole. In a small mixing bowl combine the 64 crushed Ritz crackers with the ½ cup of melted butter, using a fork to combine until evenly coated. Sprinkle the mixture over the chicken casserole in your baking dish to make an even layer.
    5. Cook and serve. Bake in the center of your oven's middle rack at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on the top. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.

This hearty casserole can be served on its own. However, if you'd like to include some sides, my sour cream cornbread or roasted green beans would pair wonderfully! Enjoy!

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • In place of the Italian seasoning (or Herbes de Provence), you could also use ¼ each of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
    • 64 Ritz crackers are the equivalent of 2 full sleeves of Ritz crackers.
    • ½ cup of butter is equal to 1 stick of butter.

Store your leftover Ritz chicken casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

If you want to make this casserole ahead of time, make and assemble as above and store it in a freezer-safe container prior to baking. You could also freeze your leftovers after baking too! For both options, this chicken casserole will keep up to 3-4 months.

    ❓ FAQ

Can I Use Raw Chicken Instead Of Cooked Chicken For This Casserole?

I wouldn't recommend using raw chicken because it won't cook through fast enough. The creamy mixture and breadcrumb topping will end up burning, so you'll need to cook the chicken first. For more information on how long you need to cook chicken, check out my guide on chicken's internal temperature.

What Add-ins Can I Use In This Ritz Chicken Casserole Recipe?

Although this Ritz chicken casserole is delicious as is, you could add in some frozen mixed vegetables like peas and carrots or broccoli if you'd like. Shredded cheese or crispy fried onions would be tasty too!

Can I Freeze This Ritz Chicken Casserole?

Absolutely! This casserole recipe is the perfect dish to make ahead of time because it freezes so well. You could either assemble it as directed above in a freezer-safe container or freeze your leftovers for up to 3-4 months.
