Classic Chicken Salad Recipe with Grapes
Chicken salad is one of my all-time favorite quick and easy lunch recipes. I love mixing in grapes because they offer little bursts of sweetness in contrast with the savory chicken (which is completely delicious).
Personally, I could just eat the entire bowl with a spoon in one sitting because it is just that good. However, sometimes, I do take the time to make it into a sandwich or share it with the rest of my family!
🥘 Ingredients
All of these items are just a quick grocery trip away! Choose celery and grapes that are super fresh for the best results!
- Chicken - 4 cups of cooked chicken that has then been either shredded or chopped. Rotisserie chicken works perfectly for this recipe!
- Celery - 1 cup of chopped celery for a nice crunch!
- Grapes - 1 cup of red seedless grapes that have been chopped in half. I enjoy using red grapes, but of course, you can use your favorite grapes.
- Dried Cranberries - ½ cup of dried cranberries (also called craisins). Feel free to swap these out for raisins or currants if you like.
- Pecans - ½ cup of pecans or walnuts. Feel free to toast or roast these and then crush them until they are chunky!
- Mayonnaise - 1 cup of mayonnaise or plain Greek yogurt.
- Salt & Pepper - ½ teaspoon of both salt and pepper, to taste.
- Parsley (optional) - 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley for garnish, if desired.

💭 Tips & Notes
- Start with less mayonnaise if desired and add more until the chicken salad reaches your desired creaminess.
- You can toast or roast the pecans and then crush them until they are chunky or fine! Toasting the nuts in a shallow frying pan over medium-high heat quickly adds more flavor. Heat until fragrant, then transfer it immediately onto a clean plate.
- If you want to lighten up your chicken salad, opt for plain Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
- Rotisserie chicken is perfect for this recipe! However, you can also easily whip up some Instant Pot shredded chicken!
- Enjoy this chicken salad by itself, on a croissant as a sandwich, or in a lettuce wrap!
🥡 Storing
Keep your leftover chicken salad in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If left out, make sure it does not sit at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

❓ Recipe FAQs
Mayonnaise really doesn't do well in the freezer, as it emulsifies, separates, and will become greasy. I don't recommend freezing this chicken salad.
Chicken salad definitely tastes best when it is served cold (straight from the fridge!) In fact, it actually has the best flavor when the flavors have been able to meld together after spending a few hours in the refrigerator!
Any way you like! You can enjoy this chicken salad straight from the bowl, as a sandwich, on crackers, or in a lettuce wrap! It tastes great no matter how you eat it!
