❓ Recipe FAQs
Kielbasa, or a traditional smoked beef sausage, tastes fabulous when baked in BBQ sauce. However, if you are looking to cut calories, turkey sausage would be your best bet.
Of course, you can! You could follow this recipe and mix it into your baked beans after they have cooked, or simply add sliced sausage to your baked beans and let them cook together.
If doing the latter, simply follow this baked beans recipe but omit the ground beef and swap it for sausage.
BBQ baked sausage will take 40-45 minutes to cook when baked at 350°F (175°C).

I have a “bake” feature on my air fryer. Can I cook them like that?
Angela Latimer says
I've found that the bake function (i think it's due to the circulating air) can dry out baked goods. However, this recipe is a great candidate for using the bake option on your air fryer. You may need to reduce the cooking time, and check the sausage while cooking. Thanks for asking and, if you do try it, let us know how long your cook time was for your model.
Sharon Johnson says
Thanks. Do you know what temperature I should use? And how long to cook it!
Angela Latimer says
I would cook fully sauced with a sheet of aluminum or parchment paper under the sausages. You should be OK at the 350F temp, for 15-20 minutes. Check and continue cooking until the sausages are caramelized to your satisfaction.

I love it my kid love it when she made it
Larisa says
Should this be made with precooked sausage? Or is raw okay?
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
The cook time included is for cooked types of sausage, however, raw sausage should be fully cooked in this amount of time as well. I cook raw Italian sausage for 20-25 minutes, for example. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that your sausage is fully cooked before serving. Thanks for asking!

Hi can u do it with hotdogs too thank you
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
I'm sure that you could use hotdogs too. I would select the large polish style hotdogs, beef franks, or old fashioned weiners for best results. Thanks for asking!

Very yummy! I served over rice and it was a big hit!!
Marcia Haas says
Can you put it in a crockpot ?
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
Yes, add everything and cook on high for 2 hours or low for 3-4 hours.
Kristen says
Will it turn out the same in a crockpot or would you suggest the oven?
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
I think it can cook much faster in the oven, however, it would be great for potlucks with the warm setting for serving. I personally like to toast in the oven on broil for the last few minutes for the caramelization but that can be done before serving if you use the crockpot.

This has become a regular in our rotation for a weeknight easy meal. I have made with kielbasa, beef smoked sausage and last time tricked my husband with turkey smoked sausage. We actually like it the best with the turkey! Maybe because less fatty while saving some calories. Always have used sweet baby rays but next time will try no sugar added to make it even a little bit better for us. Thank you 😊

Can u use anything else if u don't have liquid smoke
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
Hi there, if you don't have liquid smoke on hand, it can simply be omitted. Thanks for asking!
Melissa says
You can also substitute a little smoked paprika for the liquid smoke.
Elizabeth says
What is your favorite bbq sauce to use for this?

I made this Honey BBQ Sauce that is incredible and perfect for the sausage!

Looks FAB, and I will try it within the next 3 days!!! But no matter how good it is, I will most likely NEVER make it again, because I cannot pin it on my Pinterest page. That is where I most often go when looking for something for dinner ideas, and I can't seem to pin this from your page...but thanks again!
