🥘 Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips Ingredients
You only need a few ingredients to make baked apple chips in your oven. The cinnamon is totally optional, these apple chips are just as yummy plain!
- Apples - 3 large apples. You want to use crisp, sweet apples like pink lady, Fuji, Honeycrisp, or jazz apples.
- Water - ½ cup of cold water to pre-treat the apples so they don't brown.
- Lemon Juice - ½ cup of lemon juice to add to the water.
- Ground Cinnamon - ¾ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

🔪 How To Make Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips
You'll be shocked at how easy it is to make apple chips without a dehydrator! All you need is a couple of baking sheets, some parchment paper, a mixing bowl, and a sharp knife or mandolin.
This makes about 3 cups of apple chips with 1 cup per serving. You can make more, just be sure you have large enough baking sheets that the chips are in a single layer (or they won't get crispy).
Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips
- Prep. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C) and make sure that the top and bottom racks are in the upper and lower thirds of your oven. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
- Make a pre-treatment bath. Make a pre-treatment bath for the apples by filling a bowl halfway full with a 50/50 blend of ½ cup cold water and ½ cup lemon juice. Set it to the side.
- Slice. Use a very sharp knife or mandolin to slice 3 large apples horizontally into ⅛-inch thick rounds. Drop the fresh slices into the pre-treatment bath to keep them from browning as you slice the remaining apples.3 large apples
- Add cinnamon. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on both prepared baking sheets and sprinkle the ¾ teaspoon of cinnamon over each slice.
- Bake. Bake at 200°F (95°C) for 1 hour, then switch the positions of the baking sheets (upper baking sheet goes to the bottom, the bottom baking sheet goes to the top) and bake for an additional 1 to 1 ½ hours.
- Remove from the oven and let sit at room temperature for 1 hour where they will go from somewhat flexible to crisp, then your apple chips are ready to eat. *If they are not crispy enough after 1 hour, return them to the oven and bake longer.
Sometimes I like to mix a variety of dried fruits like these apple chips, dehydrated banana chips, and dehydrated pineapple for a tropical fruity snack. If you like dried fruit, you should try this watermelon jerky, too! Enjoy!
💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- The nutrition information is for 1 cup of baked cinnamon apples.
- If your oven doesn't go down to 200°F (95°C), set it as low as it will go and leave a slight gap in the oven door to reduce the temperature and quicken the drying time.
- For the crispiest apple chips, it's important you slice them very thin. Any thicker than ⅛ inch will not get crispy (though they still taste good)!
- The total bake time will vary slightly depending on how high the water content of your apples is.
🥡 Storing
Baked cinnamon apple chips can be kept at room temperature in an airtight container for 1 week.

❓ Recipe FAQs
If your apple chips aren't crispy it's because they were either sliced too thick or not baked long enough. I use a mandolin to slice them into consistent ⅛-inch thick rounds. You could even cut them thinner for a more delicate apple chip (just remember they will cook faster)!
Baked apple chips are great for snacking, but can also be used in a number of other delicious ways! Dice up the apple chips and sprinkle them on yogurt or oatmeal. Use them as a tasty hummus scoop or a chip for Greek yogurt dip. You can even toss your apple chips in some tea for extra flavor!
Baked apple chips freeze wonderfully. Just put them into a heavy-duty freezer bag and squeeze out as much air as you can. Pop them in the freezer and they will keep for up to 6 months.
