This apple crisp recipe is chock full of fresh apples with just enough sweetness and an irresistible crumbly oatmeal streusel topping! It's an easy dessert that features all your favorite fall flavors, but it's worth making any time of the year! Top your apple oatmeal crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you'll be in pure dessert heaven!

    Apple Oatmeal Crisp

One of my favorite things to make with fresh apples is this easy apple crisp with oats. The apples are baked in the oven until incredibly tender and they are coated in this sweet, sticky, cinnamon sauce with a buttery crumble topping that is just divine!

It's always a crowd pleaser because it makes enough for the whole family (and then some) and it makes your house smell heavenly as it bakes. The only thing better than this apple crisp is serving up your apple crisp with a scoop of ice cream on top!

With fresh apples and just enough sweetness, this apple crisp is a dessert that everyone will enjoy!

🔪 How To Make Apple Crisp

This recipe is incredible easy, once you've peeled all your apples the hard part is over! Get out a 2-2.5 quart baking dish or 9x13 baking pan, a mixing bowl, a whisk, and a silicone spatula.

    1. Prep. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place your 10 cups of sliced apples in a 2-2.5 quart baking dish or 9x13 baking dish.
    2. Combine. In a mixing bowl combine ½ cup white sugar, 1tablespoon all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg. Lightly whisk to combine thoroughly, then sprinkle the mixture over the apples and pour ¼ cup water over the top of everything.
    3. Mix. Now, combine 1 cup of quick oats, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, ½ cup brown sugar, ¼ teaspoon baking powder, ¼ teaspoon baking soda, and ½ cup melted butter. Mix to combine, then sprinkle the crumbly oatmeal mixture over the apples.
    4. Bake. Pop your apple crisp in the oven and bake for 45 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

The very best way to enjoy your apple crisp is to top it with some vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel or toffee sauce. A dollop of whipped cream is also a good choice. Enjoy!

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • Firm semi-tart to tart apples are best, such as Granny Smith, Jonathon apples, Braeburn apples, Pink lady apples, etc.
    • Everyone's oven is different. If your streusel topping starts getting too dark but your apples aren't fully cooked, simply cover your baking dish with a sheet of aluminum foil until done.
    • Storing: Leftover apple crisp with oats should be covered and refrigerated for up to 4 days.
    • Reheating: Quickly warm up individual portions in the microwave, or the entire baking dish in the oven at  350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes.
