💭 Tips & Notes
- Sausage Options: Choose between cooked or raw sausage for the filling. If using raw sausage, ensure it's cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for safety.
- Sausage Brand Preference: While Jimmy Dean sausage is a recommended brand, feel free to use any type of sausage you prefer, including regular or hot ground sausage.
- Healthier Alternatives: For a lighter version, use low-fat cream cheese and reduced-fat crescent rolls. They'll still taste delicious!
- Customizable Filling: Get creative with the filling by adding ingredients like bacon, various cheeses, or vegetables to suit your taste.
🥡 Storing & Reheating
Keep your crescent rolls stored in a sealed container in the fridge for 3-5 days.
Once cooled, place your crescents onto a baking sheet and freeze for 1-2 hours. Once frozen, you can transfer them to a food storage bag for up to 3 months. Defrost in the fridge overnight before reheating.
You can reheat your sausage cream cheese crescents in the microwave, toaster oven, or air fryer. If frozen, reheat in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.

❓ Recipe FAQs
Sure! To make them ahead of time, I recommend preparing the filling and storing it in an airtight container until ready to assemble. Then, when you're ready, you can just open the crescent rolls, slice them, and roll them up! Pop them in the oven, and then they are ready to go!
This recipe is extremely versatile and customizable. You can add scrambled eggs, different cheeses, bacon or ham, diced onions, mushrooms, fresh spinach, minced garlic, bell peppers, or anything else you may like!
The spiciness level depends on whether you are using a sweet or spicy variety of ground sausage. To keep it mild, use regular or sweet sausage. To make it spicier, opt for hot ground sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes.

Linda says
I did not put Worcestershire sauce in it and everyone loved them.
So good luck on having enough to freeze. I actually ran out of pastry as well, lol, so I just rolled out my biscuits and cut them like the crescents and they were just as loved, but a little more work.
George says
Could I use puff pastry instead?….
And what are the finished result differences between using raw or cooked meat?
I am going to Italian pork sausage.
Thank You
Angela @ BakeItWithLove.com says
I see no issues or changes really needed for using the puff pastry. You can opt to cook the meat, but I think it is more tender when cooked from fresh (in the cream cheese mixture). Just make sure that you check the internal temperature of your rolls to be at 160F for ground pork. Let me know how they turn out (and what you opted for)!
