Using your microwave to make scrambled eggs is one of my favorite breakfast hacks. It is ridiculously easy, and you don't have to sacrifice any flavor.
Make sure you only heat the eggs in small increments while whisking them in between each session. This is the key to having light and fluffy scrambled eggs.

- Salt - ⅛ teaspoon of salt, adjusted to taste.
- Butter (optional) - 1 tablespoon of butter for extra richness.
- Cheddar Cheese (optional) - ¼ cup of shredded cheddar cheese, if desired.

🔪 How To Make Scrambled Eggs In The Microwave
The key to fluffy eggs is to make sure you stir them every 30 seconds. The only things you are going to need here are just a bowl and a whisk (or fork).
This will make enough tasty scrambled eggs for 2 people.
- Crack the eggs. In a microwave-safe mixing bowl, crack your 4 eggs. Add in the 2 tablespoons of half & half and ⅛ teaspoon of salt (*see note). Whisk until thoroughly combined.
- Microwave. Place the bowl into the microwave and cook the eggs on high power for 30 seconds. Remove the bowl and use a whisk to beat the eggs, making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl. Add in the 1 tablespoon pat of butter if using (*see note).
- Repeat the cycle. Return the eggs to the microwave and continue to repeat the cycle of 30-second heating sessions, stirring the eggs in between. You can do this for up to 2½ minutes or until the eggs reach your desired consistency. Add in ¼ cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the last 30-second cycle if using.
- Serve. Once done, remove the eggs from the microwave and add ⅛ teaspoon of pepper. Stir to combine and serve immediately.

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- Opt for High-Fat Dairy: Higher-fat dairy products tend to yield better results, especially when cooking in the microwave. Whole milk is also a good option.
- Non-Dairy Alternatives: For those preferring non-dairy, unsweetened soy or almond milk is recommended for maintaining optimal flavor.
- Seasoning with Pepper: Wait to add pepper until after the eggs are cooked to avoid altering their color to an unappealing grey.
- Enhancing Flavor with Butter: For a richer taste, consider adding a pat of butter following the initial 30-second cooking interval.
- Creative Variations: Elevate your dish by incorporating ingredients like shredded cheese, bacon, ham, bell peppers, spinach, basil, or jalapeños for delicious twists on the classic recipe.

❓ Recipe FAQs
Using a microwave to cook eggs is 100% safe. These scrambled eggs are just as safe to consume as any scrambled eggs you could have made on your stovetop.
Eggs can explode in the microwave for a couple of reasons. First, if you try to microwave a completely intact egg (uncracked), it will explode. This is why, when poaching eggs in the microwave, you must use a safety pin to prick a tiny hole in the shell so that the steam can escape.
However, for eggs that have already been cracked, the same thing can happen because of the yolk. If you microwave an egg where the membrane surrounding the yolk was not broken, it could explode. Just make sure to thoroughly beat your eggs before microwaving!
Surprisingly, eggs can be cooked in a ton of different ways in the microwave! As long as you cook them correctly, they are completely safe and delicious!
You can use your microwave to scramble, poach, hard boil, and even 'fry' eggs! Just make to take the necessary precautions to keep your eggs from exploding (like pricking a hole in the shell).

Microwave Scrambled Eggs

- 4 eggs
- 2 tablespoon half & half (*see note)
- ⅛ teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
- ¼ cup cheddar cheese (shredded, optional)
- ⅛ teaspoon pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- In a microwave-safe mixing bowl, crack your 4 eggs. Add in the 2 tablespoon half & half and ⅛ teaspoon salt (*see note). Whisk until thoroughly combined.
- Place the bowl into the microwave and cook the eggs on high power for 30 seconds. Remove the bowl and use a whisk to beat the eggs, making sure to scrape the sides of the bowl. Add in the pat of 1 tablespoon butter, if using (*see note).
- Return the eggs to the microwave and continue to repeat the cycle of 30-second heating sessions and stirring the eggs in between. You can do this for up to 2½ minutes, or until the eggs reach your desired consistency. Add in the shredded ¼ cup cheddar cheese to the last 30-second cycle, if using.
- Once done, remove the eggs from the microwave and add ⅛ teaspoon pepper. Stir to combine and serve immediately.
Notes
- I like to use higher-fat dairy as it cooks best (especially in the microwave). You could also use whole milk.
- If you would like to use a non-dairy alternative, I recommend using unsweetened soy or almond milk for the best flavor.
- Do not add any pepper until the eggs have been cooked, as it will turn the eggs into an unappetizing grey color.
- If you want an extra rich flavor, add in a pat of butter after the first 30-second cycle!
- For some tasty variations, try adding in some shredded cheese, bacon, ham, bell peppers, spinach, basil, or jalapenos!

Microwavable scrambled eggs. Love them this way better than in a skillet. They come out so nice and fluffy and I will be fixing them this way from now on. Thank you.
