These puff pastry apple turnovers are so easy to make and they only need you to buy some frozen puff pastry dough and canned apple pie filling. Using a pre-made pie filling makes this dessert practically effortless.
While these turnovers can be stored at room temperature for a few days, there's no way they would even last that long. Your family is going to eat them up.

🔪 How To Make Puff Pastry Apple Turnovers
Don't forget to let your puff pastry thaw out completely before you get started! All you're going to need is a baking sheet, knife, and a mixing bowl!
This recipe will give you 8 servings, so you can have plenty of leftovers to enjoy later!
Fill The Apple Turnovers
- Preheat. To get started, preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut pastry dough. Roll out your sheet of thawed puff pastry dough and then cut it into 4 squares.
- Fill pastry. Next, scoop roughly 3 tablespoons of apple pie filling into each puff pastry section (*see note).
- Make egg wash. Afterward, add your egg and water to a small mixing bowl and beat it lightly.
Seal and Bake Turnovers
- Fold and seal. Next, brush your egg wash onto 2 of the edges of the puff pastry (making an "L" shape) so that they can be folded over and sealed together, forming a triangle. Use a fork to press the edges together.
- Bake. Place your prepared apple turnovers onto the parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Bake them for 20-25 minutes, or until they have a nice golden brown color.
- Cool. cooked, remove from the oven and allow to cool before adding the vanilla glaze
Vanilla Glaze Drizzle
- Mix. In a small mixing bowl, combine the milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine (*see note).
- Adjust. Adjust the thickness of the glaze by adding more milk or powdered sugar until it has reached your desired consistency.
- Drizzle. Once satisfied with the glaze, drizzle it over the cooled apple turnovers.
A perfect hand held dessert exactly as they are. However, feel free to pair them with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream to make them extra decadent. Enjoy!
💭 Tips & Notes
- You can dice the apple pie filling into smaller chunks so that you can fit more filling in each turnover. Otherwise, you can only fit 2-3 apple pieces in each one (depending on size).
- When making the vanilla glaze, start with only 1½ tablespoons of milk so that you can easily adjust the consistency to your liking.
- A tasty optional glaze ingredient that you can add is a ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- To store: Your turnovers can keep at room temperature for a couple of days. If you happen to still have leftovers, place your apple turnovers into an airtight container and keep in the fridge for up to 5 days (however, the fridge can make them soggy so I recommend keeping them at room temperature).
- To freeze: You can freeze filled, unbaked apple turnovers for up to one month. Let them thaw out overnight before baking.

❓ Recipe FAQs
To keep your turnovers from getting soggy, don't store them in the refrigerator. Wrap them up in some plastic wrap and place them in an airtight container at room temperature.

Just couldn’t get 3Tablespoons in each without it all leaking out. Just used my own judgement. Also used Apple Pie filling.

Hello, I wanted to take a moment and thank you for sharing this recipe . It was so yummy. So simple even I could make them with the kids running after school before dinner. My friends all thought I was in the kitchen all night making theset. They were all gone by time I got done doing the cleanup part of things. Next time I'll be making a bigger batch!
