🔪 How To Make Mummy Dogs
These mummy dogs are the perfect opportunity to let your creativity shine. All you need is a knife, baking sheet, and cutting board.
This makes 10 mummy dogs. Nutritional information is calculated for 1 dog per person, but we often eat 2.
Assemble the Mummy Dogs
Step 1: Preheat. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C/Gas Mark 5).
Step 2: Roll out crescent rolls. Pull out 8 ounces of crescent roll dough (1 can). If using pre-scored crescent rolls, roll them out and tear them at the perforation (making 4 rectangles). If using a sheet of crescent rolls, unroll it and cut it into 4 rectangles.
Step 3: Cut the dough. With kitchen shears or a knife, cut each of the rectangles of dough into 10 thin strips. You should have 40 strips of dough.
Step 4: Slice the cheese. Cut the 2½ cheese slices into quarters (and the last half slice into two halves).
Step 5: Wrap the hotdogs. Stack a slice of cheese on top of each of the 10 hot dogs. Then, wrap them up with the thin dough strips, crisscrossing to look like a wrapped mummy. The dough can be stretched slightly to cover the entire hotdog.
Step 6: Leave an opening for eyes. Leave space between the dough bandages to add a face or eyes to your mummy, if desired. (*See note).
Bake
Step 7: Spray with cooking spray. Place the mummy hotdogs cheese-side-down on an ungreased baking sheet and spray the dough lightly with cooking spray.
Step 8: Bake. Bake at 375°F (190°C/Gas Mark 5) for 13-17 minutes, or until the dough is golden-brown. Remove from heat, add candy eyes, and serve with your favorite condiments.
♨️ Air Fryer Instructions
Step 1: Preheat. Preheat the air fryer to 325°F (160°C).
Step 2: Air fry. Cook for 6 to 7 minutes or until the tops of the crescents are lightly browned.
Step 3: Flip. Using tongs, flip each crescent dog and continue cooking for an additional 2 to 3 minutes or until they are golden brown.
Step 4: Repeat. Take them out of the air fryer and repeat the process with the rest of the crescent dogs. Add candy eyes to finish your mummies.

💭 Tips & Notes
- Skip the eyes. If candy eyes are not an option, make your faces with ketchup and/or mustard.
- Try out some miniature mummies. You can make a mini-version by using Lil'smokies if desired.
- Don't melt the candy. Add candy eyes after baking, or they will melt in the oven.
