If you haven’t already seen these trending Kool-Aid grapes on TikTok by now, they are a rainbow, frozen treat consisting of grapes that are coated in Kool-Aid mix. They are exactly as easy to make as it sounds!

There’s no cooking required and only uses 2 ingredients to make, so this is a perfect recipe for kids during the summer. The best part is that you can let your kids make them as a fun project too!

If you want to try out some more fun, candy grape recipes, check out my posts on Jello grapes, which is an alternate method for making these Kool-Aid grapes without freezing. Or try my candy-coated crack grapes!

Crack grapes (I didn't make the name up personally!) are tasty Jolly Rancher grapes that are coated in a sugar syrup, like my tanghulu! Alternatively, I also have an incredibly tasty crack pineapple recipe you should try out today too.

🥘 Ingredients

This recipe is so simple, it only uses 2 ingredients. If you don’t already have them, you can grab them at any grocery store.

Kool-Aid grapes ingredients with 3 packets of koolaid flavors and a colander with green grapes.
  • Green Grapes – 2-3 pounds of seedless green grapes (one bag).
  • Kool-Aid Mix – 6 ounces of Kool-Aid Mix (2-3 flavors of Kool-Aid with 1 3-ounce packet per pound of grapes). Be sure to get the sweetened packets if you aren't a fan of sweet-tart treats!

Be sure to see the free printable recipe card below for ingredients, exact amounts & instructions with tips!

🔪 How To Make Kool-Aid Grapes

This is an extremely easy recipe that anyone can do. All you’ll need is some parchment paper, a baking sheet, and a colander.

This recipe makes 12 servings so you can share them with your friends or save them for later.

  1. Freeze. To begin, freeze 1 pound of grapes for one hour. Afterward, remove the stems by giving them a quick twist (it is much easier to remove them when the grapes are frozen).
  2. Rinse. Next, place your grapes in a colander and rinse them with cool water.
  3. Add the Kool-Aid. Transfer the grapes to Ziploc bags (one for each Kool-Aid flavor/color), then add the 6 ounces of Kool-Aid mix. Seal the bags and shake them up.
  4. Freeze. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the grapes onto it. Return them to the freezer for 24 hours. After 24 hours, pull them out of the freezer and serve!

This sweet, sugary treat is super tasty and refreshing all by itself. When you’re lounging by the pool this summer, you can have some of these frozen grapes alongside a sea breeze or a Malibu cocktail.

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • Do not completely dry your grapes after rinsing as the water will help the Kool-Aid powder stick.
  • These candied grapes are best frozen, when they thaw they will make a mess and some of the colors could stain fingers and clothes.
  • Kool-Aid grapes are a great Weight Watchers friendly snack!
  • To store: Keep Kool-Aid grapes in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 1 month.

❓ Recipe FAQs

What Is The Difference Between Kool-Aid Grapes and Crack Grapes?

While Kool-Aid grapes have been covered with drink mix, crack grapes are grapes that have been coated with a sugary syrup and then rolled in broken hard candy (such as Jolly Ranchers or rock candy).

Can I Make Kool-Aid Grapes With Red Grapes?

Yes, you can use red grapes, green grapes, or a mix of both! Choose whatever grapes you like best!

What Do Kool-Aid Grapes Taste Like?

These candied grapes have a sugary sweet outside from the Kool-Aid mix and then are a fruity and delicious grape on the inside! The flavor will vary slightly depending on what flavor of Kool-Aid mix you choose to use.
