This honey mustard sauce uses common household ingredients, takes just a few minutes to make, and tastes amazing on everything! Pair it with chicken, vegetables, pork, salads, salmon, French fries, and more! With no cooking required, it couldn't be any easier to prepare!

Homemade Honey Mustard Sauce

I'm a huge fan of making my own sauces, condiments, and dips. Not only do they always taste better than the kind from the store, but they aren't loaded up with preservatives!

I always keep this sauce stocked up in my fridge because it truly is so versatile! I like to add it to my salads, sandwiches, and wraps or use it as a dipping sauce for chicken or French fries!

🥘 Honey Mustard Sauce Ingredients

All of these ingredients are common household staples that you most likely already have in your pantry! If you don't have any Dijon mustard, I would recommend picking some up because it really is key to the flavor of the sauce!

  • Mayonnaise - ½ cup of mayonnaise.
  • Honey - 3 tablespoons of honey. I don't recommend using raw honey, but feel free to use whatever flavor or variety you may have on hand!
  • Dijon Mustard - 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard.
  • Yellow Mustard - 1 tablespoon of yellow mustard.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar - 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar (or try an apple cider vinegar substitute).
  • Garlic Powder - ⅛ teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • Paprika - ⅛ teaspoon of paprika.
  • Salt & Pepper - ⅛ teaspoon of both salt and pepper.

*Be sure to see the free printable recipe card below for ingredients, exact amounts & instructions with tips!*

🔪 How To Make Honey Mustard Sauce

There's no need to cook at all for this simple sauce, just stir everything together, and then you're good to go! Go ahead and grab your measuring utensils, a mixing bowl, and a spoon or whisk.

This recipe will yield ¾ cups of sauce, which can be portioned into roughly 8 servings.

  1. Add. Add ½ cup (112 grams) of mayonnaise, 3 tablespoons (44 milliliters) of honey, 1 tablespoon (15 grams) of both Dijon mustard and yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon (5 milliliters) of apple cider vinegar, ⅛ teaspoon (.25 grams) each of garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to a small mixing bowl.
  2. Stir. Use a spoon or whisk to stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Serve. Use your honey mustard sauce immediately or store it for later.

This honey mustard sauce tastes amazing with so many things! Dunk your French fries in it, drizzle it over some baked salmon, use it as a burger topping, or pair it with some chicken tenders! Enjoy!

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • This recipe will yield about ¾ cups of honey mustard sauce.
  • If you would like a little bit of a kick, feel free to add in a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • For a healthier version, you can swap the mayonnaise out for plain Greek yogurt.

🥡 Storing

Keep your sauce stored in an airtight jar or container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The ingredients may separate while sitting, so give it a good stir before serving.

❓ Recipe FAQs

Can I Use Honey Mustard Sauce As A Marinade?

Sure! You can use this sauce as a marinade for any of your favorite proteins. Or, you can go ahead and check out my honey mustard chicken marinade!

Can I Use Any Type Of Mustard To Make Honey Mustard Sauce?

I recommend either keeping the combination of yellow mustard and Dijon mustard or using only Dijon mustard. However, you can use any mustard you like, but it may alter the flavor.

Can I Freeze Honey Mustard Sauce?

I do not recommend freezing this sauce because of the mayonnaise. It will not thaw very well, and the ingredients will separate.
