🔪 How To Grill Acorn Squash
Grilling acorn squash is amazingly simple to do, yet incredibly tasty! All you are going to need is your grill, grilling utensils, and a sharp knife!
One acorn squash should be enough for 4 sides of grilled squash, but you can always feel free to get additional squash and make more!
- Preheat. To get started, preheat your grill to medium heat (450°F / 230°C).
- Prepare the squash. Cut your 1 acorn squash in half lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out the seeds. Then, slice the acorn squash into ½-inch thick slices.
- Drizzle with oil. Place your acorn squash slices into a large bowl and drizzle with the 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Add seasonings. Next, sprinkle in ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon of paprika, ¼ teaspoon of salt, and ⅛ teaspoon of pepper, and toss until all of the squash pieces are well coated.
- Grill. Use tongs to transfer the slices to the preheated grill and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side.
- Serve. Remove from the heat and enjoy immediately. If desired, mix together 1 tablespoon each of honey and butter and brush it onto the acorn squash right before serving.
This veggie side dish goes great with any other grilled items! Pair it with a grilled ribeye or grilled lamb steaks! Enjoy!

Yep! The skin of acorn squash is super tasty and tender when cooked. However, if you prefer not to eat it, go ahead and grill the squash with the skin on and remove it after cooking. It removes very easily when cooked!
Acorn squash can easily be customized to any taste you like, whether it be sweet or savory! Some tasty herbs that pair well with acorn squash are rosemary, sage, thyme, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, or ginger!
Of course, you can always add on some honey, brown sugar, or maple syrup too!
You want to pick an acorn squash that has no soft spots and is dull. If the skin is shiny, it was picked too early. A nice combination of both orange and green colors is also a great indication of a nice acorn squash.
