🔪 How To Make Chicken Sausage with Apples

This delicious sheet pan dinner is extra easy because you only have 10 minutes of prep work before the oven takes over! You will need a baking sheet, a chef's knife, a cutting board, parchment paper (or aluminum foil), a mixing bowl, and some measuring utensils to get started.

This recipe will make around 6 servings! You can use the apples, onions, and potatoes as the side, so no extra work is needed!

    Prepare Ingredients

    1. Prep. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
    2. Prepare sauce. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sauce ingredients (2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon of Balsamic vinegar, ¼ teaspoon of salt, and ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper). Whisk to combine, then set aside.
    3. Slice ingredients. Slice 20 ounces of sausages into 1 ½-2 inch chunks diagonally, slice 2 medium onions, cube 4 medium russet potatoes, then core and slice 4-5 medium apples and add them to the mixing bowl with the combined sauce.
    4. Coat & transfer. Toss the chicken sausage, apples, potatoes, and onions in the sauce until evenly coated. Transfer them onto your prepared baking sheet and spread them out into an even layer.

    Cook & Serve

    1. Cook. Bake in the middle of your oven's center rack at 425°F (218°C) for 40 minutes. After 20 minutes of cooking time, use a spatula to flip the sausage sheet pan dinner ingredients.
    2. Broil & serve. If desired, broil on high for 3-4 minutes before serving, then remove from the oven and serve immediately.

This hearty chicken sausage sheet pan dinner is delicious and filling on its own. However, if you would like to add a side dish to go with it, a wedge salad or some tasty cheese rolls won't disappoint! Enjoy!

    ❓ FAQ

What Is A Sheet Pan Dinner?

A sheet pan dinner is a meal that is cooked entirely on a sheet pan (or baking sheet) in the oven. In general, sheet pan dinners typically consist of a protein, a vegetable, and a grain or starch. It's a dinner that is easy and quick to prepare for busy weeknights or when you want a simple meal.

Do I Need To Peel The Potatoes And Apples For This Recipe?

This is completely up to your own personal preference. In this recipe, I did not peel the potatoes or apples. If you prefer the texture and flavor of the skins, you can leave them on. Otherwise, you can peel them before cooking.

Can I Make This Chicken Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner Ahead Of Time?

Yes! You can prep the ingredients for this recipe ahead of time, store them in the fridge separately, and then cook them on the baking sheet when you're ready to make dinner! However, if you cook the entire meal ahead of time, the potatoes may become soft and lose their crispy texture.
