🤔 What Is A Vodka Mojito
This vodka twist to the classic gold or light rum-based mojito is a delightful cocktail! It's one of my absolut (pun intended!) favorites for Cinco De Mayo, right up there a great Pina Colada!
🍹 Ingredients
- Mint Leaf - This is a must for the mojito!
- Lime - 4 quarters, one quarter halved for garnish
- Simple Syrup - If you do not have simple syrup see my notes section.
- Vodka - Try Absolut, Grey Goose, Smirnoff, or Ketel One Citroen vodka
- Soda Water - Club soda or sparkling water will do. You can substitute 7-UP or Sprite.
I like Absolut, Grey Goose, Smirnoff, or Ketel One Citroen vodka for my mojitos. If I'm feeling swanky, I would use Belvedere, a luxury vodka from Poland. Yummy!
🍸 Instructions
A vodka mojito is an incredibly easy cocktail to make, no shakers or strainers are necessary!
- Start off with a high ball glass, slap, and put your mint leaves, limes, and simple syrup in the glass.
- Muddle the base ingredients together, gently, but firmly enough to release the mint oil and lime juice.
- Once muddled, fill your glass with ice.
- Next, pour the soda water, then add the vodka into your glass and give it a stir.
- Finish with a garnish of the reserved lime slices and/or mint leaves and enjoy!
🥂 Cocktail Tips & Variations
- One of the keys to a great cocktail is to use good liquor. That's no exception in the case of my vodka mojito.
- Slap the mint leaves in your hand to get an enhanced flavor.
- Add the club soda first, this will evenly distribute the soda throughout.
What If I Don't Have Simple Syrup?
You can substitute simple syrup in a mojito with:
- Honey - 2 parts honey 1 part warm water, stirred.
- Agave Syrup - Use half as much agave syrup as the recipe calls for.
- Maple Syrup - Equal amounts (1 to 1 ratio).
What Can I Use If I Don't Have A Muddler?
If you don't have a muddler for making cocktails, use a heavy-handled wooden utensil. A large wooden spoon or the handle end of a meat tenderizer works quite nicely!
