🥘 Ingredients
- Salt – The base of your seasoned salt. Fine Kosher salt (Diamond brand is my latest favorite) or fine sea salt work well.
- Ground Black Pepper – Adds a sharp, slightly spicy kick that balances the saltiness.
- Garlic powder – Adds savory depth and enhances the overall taste.
- Smoked Paprika – My preference for a smokey, warm flavor but regular paprika works too.
- Onion Powder – Adds subtle sweetness and aromatic flavor.
- Cayenne pepper – Just enough to give the seasoning a light kick.

🧂 How To Make Seasoned Salt
You’ll need your measuring spoons, a small mixing bowl, a spoon to combine the ingredients, and an airtight container or spice jar to store your seasoned salt.
One batch of this seasoned salt makes just over 5 tablespoons of seasoning. 1 tablespoon of seasoned salt is enough for 1-1.5 pounds of meat or 2-3 pounds of potatoes. As always, I recommend seasoning to taste.
Homemade Seasoned Salt
Grab the spices. Measure out 3 tablespoons of salt, 4 teaspoons of ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, ½ teaspoon of onion powder, and ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Adjust the cayenne if you prefer less heat.
Combine. Add all the ingredients to a small mixing bowl. Stir well with a spoon or whisk until the spices are evenly combined.
Season or store. Transfer the seasoned salt to a clean spice jar or airtight container. Use your seasoned salt right away or store it in a cool, dry place for later.
How much to use. 1 tablespoon of seasoned salt is enough to season about 1-1.5 pounds of meat or 2-3 pounds of potatoes (cubed or wedges).

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes
- Adjust spice level to taste. If you’re sensitive to heat, start with just ⅛ teaspoon of cayenne pepper, just a pinch, or omit it altogether. You can always add more later if you want extra kick.
- Shake before using. Before each use, give the jar a good shake or stir to redistribute the spices evenly. This prevents heavier ingredients from settling at the bottom and ensures consistent flavor every time.
- Seasoned salt is incredibly versatile. It can be used on chicken, beef, pork, burgers, eggs, soups, stews, french fries, potato chips, or seafood. A light sprinkle of salt seasoning is even tasty on salads!
