🔪 How To Make Nutter Butter Mummies
These nutter mummies are a fantastic Halloween-themed snack when you don't want to put in a ton of effort. Just grab a mixing bowl and a baking pan to begin.
This recipe will make an entire package of nutter mummies, which is about 16 servings!
- Prepare a baking sheet. To get started, line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper and set a cooling wire rack on top.
- Break the almond bark. Break up your 24 ounces of almond bark into smaller chunks and add it to a large microwave-safe bowl as well as 1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening (*see note).
- Melt. Microwave the bowl in short 30-second increments, stirring in between each one.
- Stir. Once the almond bark is almost completely melted, remove it from the microwave and stir it quickly until it is melted and smooth.
- Dunk the cookies. Take your 16 ounces of Nutter Butters and dip them into the white chocolate so that they are completely coated. Then, set them on the wire cooling rack and stick on two candy eyes. Repeat with your remaining Nutter Butters and then allow the almond bark to set.
- Add mummy wraps. Pour your remaining almond bark into a squeeze bottle (or a storage bag with a tiny bit of the corner snipped off - *see note). Squeeze strips back and forth over the Nutter Butters to resemble the wraps on a mummy.
- Serve. Allow the chocolate to completely set and then serve or store for later.
Serve these easy cookies at your next Halloween bash, or wrap them in a goody bag to pass out at trunk-or-treat! Everyone will love them! Enjoy!
💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes
- Vegetable shortening works best for making the almond bark a perfect dipping consistency as opposed to butter or other oils.
- If your almond bark starts to harden in the bowl while dunking the Nutter Butters, you can pop it back into the microwave and stir it again. You may need to heat your remaining almond bark after dipping, and before transferring the melted almond bark into a squeeze bottle.
- To store: Keep your mummies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days.
❓ Recipe FAQs
Yes! These are a great treat for making ahead of time as they are completely shelf stable! Simply prepare them and store them in an airtight container on your counter until you are ready to serve.
These mummy cookies are a great Halloween treat for kids to help with! An adult can help get the almond bark melted, but the kids can easily dunk them, add the eyes, and drizzle on the mummy wraps!
While you can put these cookies in the fridge, I don't really recommend it. The black dots on the candy eyes will begin to bleed due to the moisture. They store great at room temperature!
