How To Make Canned Corn Taste Good

To make your canned corn taste its best, you'll want to start off with the right variety of canned corn. Choose a can that says that it is "sweet corn".

Additionally, you'll want to add some butter and seasonings. Opt for real butter instead of margarine for the best results. As for seasonings, you can choose to keep it simple with just some salt and pepper!

    Variations

While you can use some salt and pepper and still have a tasty side dish, you can also switch it up with some other additions! Try out these yummy ideas!

    • A dash of some Cajun seasoning
    • Fresh herbs, such as parsley
    • Diced jalapenos
    • A teaspoon of sugar or honey
    • Some crushed garlic
    • 3 tablespoons of heavy cream (added at the end of cooking)
    • Cayenne pepper

    Storing Canned Corn

Canned corn can be kept in your pantry for an incredibly long time, up to 3 years or longer! Once you open up your corn, you'll want to keep it in the fridge in an airtight container and enjoy it within 5 days.

    ❓ FAQ

Does Canned Corn Need To Be Cooked?

Technically, no. Canned corn is already cooked and you can eat it straight from the can. However, heating it up and adding some butter and seasonings makes it taste so much better!

    Should You Rinse Canned Corn?

You can if you like, but you don't have to. Rinsing off the corn will reduce the sodium content, but it isn't necessary.

How Do I Make Canned Corn Taste Good?

Butter and seasonings are the best way to jazz up a can of corn! You can use salt and pepper, or enhance it even further with your favorite blend of spices!
