🔪 How To Make Crockpot BBQ Meatballs

Your slow cooker really does all of the work here! The only things you are going to need is your crockpot, a knife, a cutting board, and a wooden spoon.

This recipe is for 12 servings, but you can easily double or triple it as long as your crockpot is large enough.

  1. Prepare. Place 40 ounces (1.10 kilograms) of frozen meatballs into your slow cooker.
  2. Combine. Add 16 ounces (455 grams) of honey BBQ sauce, 1 cup (160 grams) of yellow sweet onion, and the optional 1-2 teaspoons (5 milliliters) of liquid smoke. Stir until everything is well combined.
  3. Cook. Close the crockpot and cook on high power for 2 hours or low power for 3-4 hours. Stir occasionally to prevent the meatballs from burning along the edges.
  4. Serve. Serve immediately with toothpicks, on mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or rolls.

🍴 What To Serve With Crockpot BBQ Meatballs

These meatballs make a fantastic appetizer for parties or large gatherings. However, you can also serve them with some white rice, noodles, yellow mashed potatoes, or on hoagies to make them the main course!

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • Any flavored BBQ sauce works wonderfully in this recipe. You may opt to not add the liquid smoke depending on the flavor.
  • To keep warm for a party, set your crockpot to the warm setting once the time has ended. They can be kept warm for up to 3 hours. Make sure you stir them occasionally and add a splash of water if the sauce becomes dry.
  • Use your favorite brand of frozen meatballs since they are the main ingredient!
  • There's no need to thaw out your meatballs. Add them to your crockpot straight out of the freezer.

🥡 Storing & Reheating

Keep your meatballs stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for a few days.

Reheating BBQ Meatballs

Reheat your meatballs either in the microwave, on the stovetop, or back in the slow cooker.
