🔪 How To Make Air Fryer Chicken Leg Quarters
There's almost no prep for this recipe, and the air fryer does all the hard work! To get started, grab your air fryer, measuring spoons, basting brush, and a meat thermometer.
This recipe makes 2 chicken leg quarters, one per person. You can always work in batches and make as many as you need!
- Preheat. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
- Add oil. For the crispiest chicken, pat the 2 chicken leg quarters (289 grams) dry with paper towels and trim off any excess fat. Then, coat with 2 teaspoons (9.86 milliliters) of extra virgin olive oil.
- Season the chicken. Season the chicken legs generously on all sides with 2 teaspoons (4 grams) of chicken seasoning and put them into the preheated air fryer basket skin-side-down.
- Cook and flip. Cook at 380°F (195°C) for 10 minutes. Then, open the air fryer basket, flip the chicken legs skin-side-up, and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
- Rest and serve. Once the chicken leg quarters have reached an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), remove them from the air fryer and let them rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- A 6-quart air fryer typically fits 2 large chicken leg quarters. You may be able to fit more if they are on the smaller side. Otherwise, work in batches if cooking more.
- If you like your chicken legs extra crispy, you can add time in 4-minute increments until they are to your liking.
- When you open your air fryer basket to check the internal temperature of your chicken, move quickly. You want as little heat to escape as possible in case they need to cook a bit longer.
🥡 Storing & Reheating
Let your chicken leg leftovers cool to room temperature, then place them in an airtight container or Ziploc bag and refrigerate them for up to 4 days.
Freezing Chicken Leg Quarters
Place the cooked and cooled chicken legs into a heavy-duty freezer bag and squeeze out the air. Freeze for up to 4 months and defrost in the fridge overnight before reheating.
Reheating Chicken Leg Quarters
The easiest way to reheat these chicken legs is the same way you made them- in your air fryer! Cook them in the air fryer at 380°F (195°C) for 10 minutes or until warmed through.

❓ Recipe FAQs
I recommend letting the air fryer preheat because it will make the chicken crispier and cook it more quickly. If you don't preheat your air fryer, the chicken will still be delicious but may take an extra 3-4 minutes.
The time may vary depending on the size of your chicken legs and the model of your air fryer. I find that large chicken leg quarters are usually ready in 20-25 minutes when cooked at 380°F (195°C) in a preheated air fryer.
To ensure the chicken leg quarters are fully cooked, I recommend using a meat thermometer. The internal temperature of the thickest part of the chicken leg quarter should reach 165°F (74°C). If you don't have a thermometer, the juices should run clear, and if you slice into it, there should be no pink remaining.
