💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- For a dairy-free dipping sauce, swap out the mayonnaise for vegan mayo or any plant-based mayonnaise.
- If you aren't a fan of mayo, you can swap it out for sour cream or Greek Yogurt.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes, a dash of hot sauce, or ½ tablespoon of sambal oelek to give your sauce a little kick!
- The total yield is ½ cup. Each serving is 1 tablespoon for nutritional calculations.
🥡 Storing
Keep your sweet potato fry dipping sauce refrigerated in an air-tight storage container for up to 3-4 days. I don't recommend freezing this sauce because it is mayonnaise-based and will affect the texture.

❓ Recipe FAQs
While you can technically freeze this sauce, the high mayonnaise content means the texture won't be as rich and creamy when thawed. To freeze, put the sauce in an airtight container or Ziploc bag and freeze it for up to 1 month. Let it thaw in the fridge and stir well before serving.
The recipe isn't spicy as written, though adding something with a little heat is always an option! A splash of hot sauce, red chili paste (gochujang), red pepper flakes, or even just a dash of paprika is a great way to balance the sweetness of the sweet potatoes.
If you don't have mayo on hand or prefer not to use it, I would try sour cream or Greek yogurt over Miracle Whip. Miracle Whip is much sweeter than mayonnaise and may be too sweet with the added maple syrup (plus the sweet potatoes are naturally sweet). If you do try it, be sure to come back and let me know how it turns out!
