🥘 Southwest Dressing Ingredients

This simple dressing only uses 5 ingredients. The southwest seasoning blend uses common spices you probably already have, so I recommend making your own!

Tall image showing Southwest dressing ingredients.
  1. Mayonnaise - 1½ cups of mayonnaise. Use your favorite brand (I like Hellmans!)
  2. Greek Yogurt - ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt.
  3. Lime Juice - 2 tablespoons of lime juice. Either fresh or bottled juice will work.
  4. Orange Juice - 2 tablespoons of orange juice.
  5. Southwest Seasoning - 1⅔ tablespoons of southwest seasoning. You may be able to find this in some stores or buy it online. However, I strongly recommend trying out my homemade spice blend recipe!

🔪 How To Make Southwest Dressing

No cooking, chopping, or blending is required; all you have to do is whisk everything together! You will need a whisk, mixing bowl, and jar to store your dressing.

This recipe will yield approximately 2¼ cups of dressing or about 9 servings.

  1. Prepare. Place your ingredients into a large mixing bowl (1½ cups of mayonnaise, ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons of both lime juice and orange juice, and 1⅔ tablespoons of southwest seasoning).
  2. Mix. Whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Serve. Serve immediately or store in a jar in the fridge until ready to serve.

This zesty dressing is perfect for dipping your chicken taquitos in, drizzling over a shrimp burrito bowl, or adding to your taco bar! It's even tasty on sandwiches and burgers! Enjoy!

💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Recipe Notes

  • This sauce is so much more than just a salad dressing! Use it as a spread on your sandwich, a dipping sauce, and more!
  • I think this dressing has a perfect consistency. However, if needed, you can thin it out using small increments of water.
  • To make a vegan version of this tasty dressing, use vegan mayonnaise and vegan yogurt!

🥡 Storing

Since this southwest dressing is yogurt-based, it can be kept for up to 4-5 days when stored in a jar or sealed container in the refrigerator.

❓ Recipe FAQs

This delicious southwest dressing is gluten-free exactly as written! So go ahead and enjoy!

Is Southwest Dressing Spicy?

The spice level of your dressing depends on how spicy your southwest seasoning is. You can use your favorite store-bought brand or make your own! When you make your own at home, you can adjust how much cayenne and/or crushed red pepper flakes are in it to increase or decrease the spiciness.
As written, this southwest dressing is only mildly spicy.

Is Southwest Dressing Vegan?

This recipe is not vegan. However, it is incredibly easy to make it vegan! As written, it uses mayonnaise and Greek yogurt. Both of these have vegan versions that you can find at most grocery stores!
