Fantastic burger toppings you'll wish you had tried a lot sooner!
What makes a great burger? There are the obvious factors, like good quality meat and a toasted bun, but after that it gets pretty subjective.
Just like no two people are the same, no two burger recipes are the same. A great burger can be saucy, or spicy, even sweet on some occasions!
There are limitless possibilities. So, we decided to take one for the team and complete the grueling task of eating delicious burgers to find our favorite burger toppings!
Below are the results from our little burger experiment. No need to thank us, just try them for yourself!
1. Western Bacon Cheeseburger
Bacon lovers rejoice! Not only is this burger a bacon lover's dream but it is also slathered in tangy BBQ sauce and piled high with crispy onion rings!
No veggies to be found here (onion rings don't count). Carl's Jr and Hardees are famous for this burger, and once you have a bite, you will understand the hype!
2. Hawaiian Burger
Forget pineapple on pizza; this Hawaiian cheeseburger showcases pineapple in a whole new light! Sweet, citrussy pineapple is the perfect contrast to a couple hearty, all beef burger patties.
A generous slather of sweet and savory homemade teriyaki sauce brings you the taste of the island in this epic burger!
3. Mushroom Swiss Burger
My amazing, 15-minute mushroom Swiss burgers bring you all the classic flavors you expect from a mushroom Swiss! This cheeseburger is the perfect example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," there's a reason it's a classic!
The mild flavor of Swiss pairs so wonderfully with caramelized mushrooms. There's no need for veggies piled high or fancy sauces; this burger is savory and delicious just the way it comes.
4. Texas Burger with Beer Cheese Sauce
It should be no surprise that a Texas burger comes with a big flavor! It features an incredible beer cheese sauce that's so good you'll want to put it on everything.
Add a pretzel bun and some chopped pickled jalapenos, and you may have just found your new favorite burger!
5. Jalapeno Popper Burger
Yes, you read that right- crispy, creamy jalapeno popper dip stuffed right in the middle of a burger.
With just enough spice to get the tastebuds tingling, these burgers are packed full of flavor (and bacon)!
6. Avocado Burger
Often referred to as "California burgers," avocado burgers are fresh and filling!
Avocados make a nice addition to any classic burger, but in this recipe, the avocados are the star of the show!
7. Breakfast (Egg) Burger
Just like the name implies, a breakfast burger features all your favorite breakfast classics! Crispy bacon, a fried egg, and delicious Havarti cheese make for a burger you can enjoy at any time of the day!
The creamy egg yolk is absorbed by a toasted bun, so you'll be savoring every last bite!
8. Pizza Burgers
Everyone loves pizza and everyone loves burgers, why not combine the two? A pizza burger features a delicious beef patty that is topped with marinara, mozzarella, and crispy pepperoni!
This burger is a family favorite that will have both kids and adults rushing to the table!
9. BBQ Brisket Burger
Nothing says indulgent like meat on top of meat! Tender, juicy shredded brisket that has been slathered in BBQ sauce sits rightfully on top of a perfectly grilled patty.
This burger is one that you'll want to make every time you have some left over BBQ!
10. Goat Cheese Burger
There's something about the salty, tangy flavor of goat cheese that is just irresistible- especially when paired with meat! Though this may not technically be a "topping", goat cheese stuffed burgers should be on your list of things you have to try!
This simple recipe is ready in just 30 minutes, but it packs so much flavor you won't believe how easy it was to make!
11. Truffle Burger
Arguably dubbed the king of gourmet burgers, a good truffle burger will have you savoring every bite. The unique flavor of truffles is such a treat, especially if you don't often get a chance to enjoy them!
This recipe features an incredible garlic-truffle aioli that truly takes this burger over the top!
12. Blue Cheese Burger
One of the more divisive flavors, blue cheese brings a pungent, tangy element that (in my opinion) belongs right on top of a hearty burger. If you are a fan of blue cheese, you will be thoroughly impressed!
If you're not a fan of gorgonzola (blue cheese), this may not be for you. But either way, blue cheese burgers are here to stay!
13. Vietnamese-Style Banh Mi Burgers
Banh Mi burgers are topped with a drizzle of Tabasco-infused mayonnaise, pickled carrots, and a few sprigs of cilantro. It's not a flavor combination you'll get to enjoy often, so make some for your guests and have everyone talking!
Using a toasted baguette instead of a typical bun just adds to the gourmet experience of this unique take on a traditional burger.
14. French Fry Bourbon Burgers
This is not a false alarm! French fries on a burger sounds dreamy, but toss in some bourbon, and you have a gourmet burger fit for the stars!
A made-from-scratch, sweet bourbon sauce takes the spotlight in this one-of-a-kind burger, but it's the french fries that will keep everyone talking!
15. Surf N' Turf Burgers
If you can't decide on having seafood or burgers for dinner, compromise and have both! Perfectly seasoned jumbo shrimp adorn juicy ground sirloin patties, and after the first bite, you'll feel like all is right with the world.
A garlic-lemon aioli is the perfect compliment to both the seafood and the beef, and results in a well-balanced burger that you'll enjoy every second of!
