🥘 Air Fryer Tortilla Chips Ingredients
Only 3 simple ingredients go into this chip recipe, it doesn't get any easier! Once you try them, you will surely want to make extras.
- Tortillas - 6 small white or yellow corn tortillas, or you can use flour tortillas. I prefer corn tortillas for extra flavor and texture, but the flour tortillas come out great as well.
- Olive Oil – 1 tablespoon of olive oil for the air fryer to work its magic. It's not necessary, but it always turns out the best chips for me!
- Salt – Season with salt to taste. Just remember that you are likely going to be dipping into something that is already seasoned.

📖 Variations
Here are a few of my family's favorite flavors on our homemade tortilla chips. Simply combine and brush onto your chips before cooking in the air fryer. Yummy!
- Cinnamon Sugar - Combine ¼ cup of sugar with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Coat the chips with oil, then sprinkle or dip them into a plate with the mixed sugar and cinnamon.
- Salt & Vinegar - Combine ½ tablespoon of white vinegar with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to coat your chips. Brush onto the tortillas, then sprinkle with salt.
- Chipotle Lime - Combine ½ tablespoon of lime juice with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to coat your chips and ½ teaspoon of chipotle chili powder. Mix and brush onto tortillas, then sprinkle with salt.
🔪 How To Make Air Fryer Tortilla Chips
Prepping these air fryer tortilla chips is a cinch. To get started, get out your air fryer, a knife, and a cutting board.
The recipe makes about 3 generous servings, so adjust the recipe if you desire to make more.
- Cut into triangles. Stack 6 small corn (or flour) tortillas and slice them into even-sized triangles to make the chips, either 6 or 8 triangle pieces per tortilla. Lightly spritz or brush 1 tablespoon of olive oil onto both sides of all the chips. *If you are trying any of the flavor variations listed above, now is the time to season them.
- Transfer to the air fryer. Place the coated tortilla triangles into your air fryer basket or onto the trays in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt if desired. Try to keep them from overlapping. You can always throw in another batch if your air fryer gets too crowded.
- Cook. Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes, then flip your chips over to the other side and add a little more salt if desired. Continue air frying for an additional 2-4 minutes or until nice and crispy and lightly browned. Keep an eye as not to overcook, or else they’ll be burnt and brittle.
- Cool. Remove the tortilla chips from the air fryer and transfer them to a clean plate. Allow the tortilla chips to cool slightly as they will continue to crisp up while sitting. Repeat with additional batches as needed.
🥗 Sides
Serve these chips with pico de gallo, salsa verde, salsa roja, or guacamole. 7 Layer Dip hit the spot too! Enjoy!
💭 Angela's Pro Tips & Notes
- Don't crowd the air fryer. Your chips will cook better if not crowded or layered in the basket. Depending on the number of chips you may have to cook them in batches.
- Flip the chips about halfway through the cooking time so both sides cook evenly.
- To increase the crunch of your chips, you can spray the chips with oil about halfway through the cooking time.
🥡 Storing & Reheating
You can store any leftovers in a sealed plastic bag for up to a week and they’ll stay fresh. If desired, heat them in your air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2-3 minutes before serving stored chips.
I prefer these tortilla chips straight from the air fryer, but if you get too full, save some for another day!
❓ Recipe FAQs
You can. The oil isn't essential but I find it makes the chips much more crisp and delicious.
Only if you use low-carb tortillas, which you totally can! If you have a favorite keto or low-carb brand of tortillas, they will work just fine in this recipe.
I find for the crispiest tortilla chips that air frying them at 350°F (175°C) works best. Any higher, and they burn too quickly.
