Love your Texas Toast even more when it's perfectly crisped in your air fryer!

Super Crispy Garlic Bread Or Cheesy Bread Is Ready In Minutes With Your Air Fryer!

Do you know the saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas”? The phrase was most likely coined because of how enormous the state is – only Alaska is bigger!

But the “bigness” has extended into all areas of life in Texas - big boots, big 10 gallon hats, big ranches, big open spaces, and big portions of food!!! Texas is so big that it just HAD to have its very own style of toast, and Texas Toast has been popular for decades.

Legend has it that in the 1940’s, a popular restaurant chain asked the local bakery to slice the bread thicker, but when it arrived it didn’t fit in to the toaster!

Instead of throwing it out, someone had the genius idea to butter both sides and cook the bread right on the grill…and Texas Toast was born!

    🥘 Ingredients

This recipe has you using the frozen brand of garlic Texas Toast – even easier!!!! It’s the ONLY ingredient! You will need four slices and can choose from the following kinds of bread:

    • Bakery Sliced Texas Toast - You can frequently find the popular garlic bread version of Texas Toast in your bakery. Since it's not frozen, it air fries to perfection FAST!
    • Texas Toast Garlic Bread - The frozen variety branded as 'Texas Toast' or use the generic brands, they're all yummy!
    • Texas Toast Cheese Bread - This also frozen and offered by the name brand, I don't usually see a generic offered. 🙁

    💭 Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

A few things to remember when making Air Fryer Texas Toast:

    * Do NOT thaw the frozen toast before cooking.

    * There's no need to use oil.

    * If you have the convection-style air fryer, you need to remember to rotate the trays (top to bottom) when the toast is halfway through cooking.

    * Cooking times will be longer, the more pieces you pack into the tray or basket.

    🔪 Step-by-Step Instructions

Place whatever kind of bread you choose into the trays or basket of your air fryer, making sure that there is no overlap. NOTE: You may be able to fit more, or fewer than four slices, depending on your model of air fryer.

    Bakery Sliced Texas Toast (fresh)

    1. Preheat your air fryer at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and cook the toast for 2-3 minutes. Then turn the bread over and continue cooking for about 2 minutes or until the toast is browned and crisped to your desired level.

    Texas Toast Garlic Bread (frozen)

    1. Preheat your air fryer at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and cook the toast for 2-3 minutes. Next, flip the garlic bread over and continue to cook for an additional 3-5 minutes.
***The cooking time might be a bit longer if you tightly pack the slices in the basket or tray. Cook only a piece or two of toast and it will likely be a few minutes less.

    Texas Toast Cheese Bread (frozen)

    1. Preheat your air fryer at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and cook the toast for about 6-10 minutes. Be sure to cook until the toast is warmed through, crispy on the bottom, and the cheese topping is gooey and melted.
***The cooking time might be a bit longer if you tightly pack the slices in the basket or tray. If you are only cooking a piece or two, it will likely be a few minutes less.

Now, Texas Toast is a great compliment to so many dishes. As a child, I remember my parents always serving it with steak. I don‘t know why, but we all loved that chewy, crispy bread alongside our ribeyes! Still do!

Additionally, it’s wonderful with any kind of pasta recipe, because the thick toast is perfect for mopping up sauce (the same goes for any dish with gravy).

Texas Toast (of any variety) was made for cooking in the air fryer!

Also can’t forget about breakfast!! This thick, buttery toast is perfect to mop up egg yolk, for making an egg, cheese, and bacon sandwich. Or serve your Texas Toast alongside an omelet with all of the trimmings!

My favorite is to serve it with a soup or stew, either as simple toast, or a grilled cheese sandwich!

Because this recipe is so yummy and easy – kids can make it themselves and it’s the perfect snack! ENJOY!
