Instructions
If you would like to sugar the rim of your champagne glass, set out a small plate and add enough granulated sugar that you have about ⅛th of an inch of sugar to dip the glass into. Wet the rim of your glass with an orange slice, then turn the glass and dip it into the sugar to coat the rim. Turn your glass to coat the rim evenly.
I used cran-apple juice, however, you can also combine apple juice and cranberry juice (1 ounce each) along with 1 ounce of orange juice. Mix the chilled juices with a quick stir, then pour in the chilled sparkling apple cider.
Garnish with optional fresh cranberries and apple slices (cinnamon sticks and rosemary sprigs are also very festive) then serve.
Notes
Notes: The orange juice concentrate in combination with your favorite lemon-lime soda adds a bit more citrus flavor to both mocktail or cocktail versions. Substitute the sparkling apple cider for more lemon-lime soda to heighten the citrus flavor even more. Try other sparkling cider flavors, both Martinelli's brand and Welch's fruit juice offers a variety of flavors. Sparkling cranberry cider or sparkling apple-cranberry cider are my two 'next-best' options to the sparkling apple cider called for here. For alcohol versions: Swap champagne, prosecco, white wine, or rosé wine for the sparkling apple cider for a matching adult version to enjoy with kids! A simple splash of vodka will also work. Or, make a long island iced tea-style holiday cocktail by combining a ½ ounce of each vodka, rum, gin, and tequila to replace the sparkling apple cider.
