Halloween Cocktails

Halloween isn't just trick-or-treating and candy - adults deserve to let loose a little, too. Enter my Halloween cocktails - the best way to celebrate Halloween without the kids.

The creatively crafted concoctions below offer a bewitching blend of flavors, colors, and fun, eerie garnishes. Each drink is delicious and, most importantly, loaded with spooky and ghastly Halloween fun.

1. Witches Brew Cocktail

The vibrant green color of this drink is due to the combination of blue curacao and Midori melon liqueur. Toss in some vodka, lemon, and lime juice with a blue sugar rim, and you have a green witch's brew that really packs a punch!

2. Blue Lagoon Cocktail

This neon blue cocktail tastes like a boozy lemonade in all the best ways. It's made with vodka, blu curacao, and lemonade, and all it's missing is a skewered eyeball candy garnish.

3. Dark n Stormy Cocktail

For a more laid-back affair, a dark n' stormy is the perfect sipping cocktail. For this one, it's all in the name.

The drink itself is a sophisticated blend of Gosling's Black Seal rum, lime juice, and ginger beer and tastes similar to a Moscow Mule.

4. Sangria

This blood-red sangria is a fruity and delicious batch cocktail that is perfect for parties. It's made with fresh fruit, a bottle of red wine, orange juice, and brandy.

Toss in a little sugar to sweeten things up, and serve!

5. Apple Cider Aeporol Spritz

Combining an Aeporol spritz with apple cider and cinnamon is a delicious way to make this classic cocktail a festive fall drink. It also includes Prosecco and soda water, so it's extra bubbly.

6. Ghost Cocktails

These blended ghost cocktails are almost too adorable to eat. The ghost's body is a cool and creamy combination of vodka, white hot chocolate, heavy cream, and sugar, and the face is melted chocolate inside the glass.

7. Vampires Kiss Cocktail

The blood-red color of this vodka martini is due to the inclusion of Chambord, which is a black raspberry liqueur. It has a rich and fruity raspberry flavor with citrus notes that will have everyone returning for round two.

8. Black Magic Margaritas

There really isn't any magic in these black magic margaritas; it's just a little food coloring and a black sugar rim. However, the stunning pitch-black cocktails are still delicious and definitely photo-worthy.

9. Halloween Punch

This is a great-tasting punch recipe that can be spiked for adults - but is still delicious if you leave the alcohol out for kids (you can always add the alcohol to your cup). It's perfectly fruity and delicious, even with a few floating eyeballs or candy snakes.

10. Jekyl & Gin Glowing Cocktails

Gin, lemon juice, and grenadine come together to make this show-stopping cocktail with a secret glow-in-the-dark ingredient - tonic water. Yep, it's a simple trick that tastes delicious and is perfect for Halloween blacklight parties.

11. Candy Corn Cocktail

Don't worry, if you're not a fan of candy corn this drink tastes much better. The name refers to the separation of colors in the glass after the whiskey and Sorel liqueur in the glass settles.

12. Black Widow Smash

Muddled fresh blackberries give this cocktail a ton of flavor and a deep purple-black color. Don't worry, the tequila is in there, you just might not see it coming.

13. Halloween Jello Shots

While not technically a cocktail, no Halloween party is complete without some Jello shots. Vanilla vodka is hidden in layers of orange and lemon Jello topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.

14. Bubbling Cauldron Punch

If you've never tried an ice cream punch, Halloween is the perfect time. This cauldron punch is made with green tea ice cream (for that creepy pale green color), rum or vodka, frozen limeade, and ginger beer for the bubbles.

This is another batch drink that is still tasty if you should choose to leave out the alcohol.

15. Pumpkin Spice White Russian

A pumpkin spice white russian would make a tasty Halloween night cap. It's made with Kahlua (in place of coffee), vodka, and best of all, a rich and velvety pumpkin spice cream.

💭 Tips For Making The Best Halloween Cocktails

When it comes to making the spookiest cocktails, it's all about the garnishes, colors, and 'special effects,' but you don't want the taste of your drink to suffer. Here are a few of my top tips for the best and tastiest Halloween cocktails:

1. Garnishes: A few eerie garnishes go a long way. Incorporate some fake eyeballs, gummy worms, cotton candy spider webs, or even just some Halloween-themed straws.
2. Names: Even if the drink technically has a name, you can still call your cocktail something fun and on-theme for the night of your party! Puns and wordplay are always a crowd favorite.
3. Special effects: Dry ice is a great way to incorporate smokey fog effects on the table or around your cocktails. *Keep in mind dry ice is unsafe to ingest and should not be directly added to drinks to prevent anyone from swallowing it.
4. Batch cocktails: Make batch cocktails that can be self-served from pitchers or punch bowls (like the bubbling cauldron punch above) for large parties.
5. Taste test - I trial-run my cocktails ahead of time to make sure that they taste good and the presentation is on point (plus, it's fun).
