This easy-to-make fish stick sandwich combines delightfully crispy fish fingers with fresh bread and homemade tartar sauce! It's a crowd-pleasing quick lunch that doubles as a great short-notice dinner too!
Crunchy, crispy, tasty fish sticks piled high on freshly sliced bread makes an amazingly satisfying lunch or dinner!
I know that both kids and adults love fish sticks as-is, but layering them into a filling sandwich is always a welcome change! Slather on some mayo or tartar sauce and build your perfect meal!

Kid Friendly! Kids love breaded fish sticks. Plus the sandwich is really fun to make with the little ones. Make it a sandwich bar to let everyone add their favorite condiments and veggies!
Great use of leftover fish fingers. Have a big bag or box of fish sticks sitting in the freezer? This is a super easy way to use those up those bulky boxes!
Super quick! Done in less than 20 minutes, and you can make a ton of them at once!
🥘 Ingredients
Fish Stick Sandwich
- Frozen Fish Sticks - Or frozen fish fillets.
- Bread- Any type of sliced bread or use one of my Kaiser Rolls.
- Leaf Lettuce - Take your pick - arugula, butter leaf lettuce, romaine, iceberg, etc.
- Tomato - Roma or beefsteak varieties are great.
Quick Tartar Sauce
- Mayonnaise - Best Foods, Hellmann's, Dukes, or even better - homemade mayo.
- Dill Pickle Relish - You can also finely mince a dill pickle.
- Capers - Don't skip em' they give an authentic taste.
- Lemon Juice - Freshly squeezed lemon juice will elevate this simple tarter sauce.
- Salt & Pepper -To taste.
🔪 Instructions
- Prep a baking sheet and bake. Bake frozen fish sticks on a parchment paper lined baking sheet at 450°F (232°C) for 15-18 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Toast your bread or buns. Toast while the fish sticks are baking. 12 slices bread
- Make the tarter sauce. In a small bowl combine the tartar sauce ingredients (½ cup mayonnaise, ½ tablespoon dill pickle relish, ½ tablespoon capers, and 1 teaspoon lemon juice) and mix until well combined. Taste and adjust your salt and pepper as needed. *I always add a splash more dill pickle juice to mine!
- Assemble the sandwiches. Spread mayonnaise or tartar sauce on your bread or bun. Layer on the cooked fish sticks topped with leaf lettuce and sliced tomatoes.

Ingredients
Fish Stick Sandwich
- 11.4 ounce frozen fish sticks (1 box)
- 12 slices bread (or 6 buns)
- 12 leaf lettuce (optional, 1-2 per sandwich)
- 12 slices tomato (optional, 1-2 per sandwich)
Quick Tartar Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ½ tablespoon dill pickle relish (or chopped dill pickles)
- ½ tablespoon capers (smashed, chopped)
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- each, salt & pepper (to taste)
