Instructions
Pre-Soaking the Potatoes For Extra Crispiness (optional but recommended)
Place the washed and cut potatoes (cut fries) in a bowl and cover with water. Soak them for 2 hours in the refrigerator. When ready you will need to drain all the water and put the fries on a baking sheet or flat surface lined with paper towels. ***Pat dry and remove all excess water before frying!
Deep Frying or Pan Frying
Clean and wash potatoes thoroughly. Then cut potatoes into ¼ inch strips and pat the potatoes dry with paper towels.
Add oil to fryer or frying pan and bring oil temperature to 275°F (135°C).
Working in batches fry the potatoes for about 5 minutes, occasionally rotating them.
Remove from the hot oil with a slotted spoon and lay fries on paper towels to drain off excess oil.
After all of the batches are complete, increase the fryer oil temperature to 350°F (175°C). Return the fries to the oil and fry for about 2-5 minutes or until a golden brown in color. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
In a large bowl add the fries, sprinkle with the desired amount of Cajun seasoning, toss gently, and serve.
Oven Instructions
Follow the directions above for the preparation of the potatoes.
In a mixing bowl drizzle peanut oil over the cut fries and toss. Sprinkle Cajun seasoning and toss again to coat.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread seasoned fries evenly on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Bake for about 18-20 minutes, then remove from oven and flip the fries. Increase the temperature to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes more.
When the fries are a nice golden brown remove them from the oven and serve.
Air Fryer Instructions
Follow the directions above for the preparation of the potatoes.
Drizzle the cut raw fries with peanut oil, add the Cajun seasoning, and toss to coat evenly.
Place the potatoes in your air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 400°F (205°C) for 14-15 minutes, flipping the fries at 7-8 minutes into the cooking time.
When your desired level of crispiness is achieved remove from the air fryer and serve.
